Pre-Flop: (59,375) A hős MP-ként A Q lapokkal rendelkezik.
1 dobás, Hero 55 000-re emel, 2 játékos dob, BTN megad 55 000-et, 1 dobás, BB 3-bet 85 000-ig, Hero megad 30 000-et, BTN megad 30 000-et

BB 803 790-es emel (all-in), MP (Hero) dob[/color ]

It was the final table, so there were big swings in the money, and there were only small bounties left, so they didn’t affect the game!

PF: The raise is totally fine. The BB gets a mini-raise—based on my observations, these are always strong hands. Would a 4-bet have been better here? That way, we could narrow down his range more effectively.

F: We have a top pair with a strong kicker; I’ll just call , board dry.

T: We get a neutral card and an all-in. I think the PF min-raise suggests strong hands—AA, AK, or AQ—which we’d split the pot with. Here, I can imagine the AJ I’m holding is protecting the hand from the flush, so is that why he’s jammed?

Are you folding or calling?

A few hands later, I’m up against the same opponent again,

PF—I’ll call this one; it’s standard.

F—He makes a big bet here; I can’t fold—I have a strong hand.

R—Same situation as before, same opponent.

What could he have? 10-10, 8-8, 7-7—I don’t think he’d raise with those,

In bounty tournaments, it’s hard to gauge someone’s hand strength—even with premium hands, they might just limp, but at the final table, I think they’d open with stronger cards, so I didn’t include those (AK, A10, 1010, 88, 77).

But if we fold here, we’re still in fourth place in the tournament.

AQo hand

Preflop
You open AQo, BTN call, and BB clicks it back. In my experience such a min 3-bet is sometimes AA/KK, but it can also be a misclick, where he hit the "raise" button by mistake, or it can be a fish goofing around with nonsense. The latter scenario is probably less likely, since its the final table of a $11 MTT. And even if BB is some kind of recreational player, he is likely taking the game a bit more serious, now that real money is at stake.

I do not agree, that a min 3-bet is commonly hands like AK/AQ. Those hands want fold equity especially out of position, so deliberately clicking it up with those makes no sense what so ever. For me the guy either has KK/AA or random nonsense. With 40BB I think, there are two reasonable options. You can either call and see a flop, as you did, or you can jam it in and hope, he does not have KK/AA this time, or that you suck out on KK.

Flop
I dont think, there is merit to any other decision than calling here.

Turn
I would call here. As I said already, I dont buy, that this guy is min 3-betting AK very often at all. There is only 1 combo of AA left, and you beat KK. If he can have A9, then he can also have AT or AJ, which you also beat. If would be a much closer decision for me, if flop was Q49 rather than A49, because now there would be 3 combos of AA left, and he could be valuebetting both those and KK as well. But on A49 I just dont see, what value range he even has? For me he is mainly representing a bluff, and I think, you are good here way more than 50% of the time.

Or even PF 4-bet to 6-8BB, and if he goes all-in, I'll fold.

Thanks, you're right—there really are few hands that can beat me here, and it's much simpler than the other situation, but in the end I folded. If it's not the final table, I'll call, but maybe I was too tight here.

Jeez, that's a tough spot. We're strong here but I'd hate to call off and see AK. On that board this smells like AK. Only 1 combo of AA, but he could also have flopped a set with 99. I don't think it's KK QQ etc since you called a large bet on the flop. That gives you tons of Ax. A jam into your range here with KK is suicidal.

He has us covered by a nose hair. Unless Villain is a known maniac, I think I have to lay down.

I would need a better reason to bloat the pot pre than just to range him.

No I dont like that play. That is just inviting him to bluff you with whatever random nonsense, he was min 3-betting with. As I said already, a min 3-bet is basically 3 different types of hands/situations:

1) AA/KK
2) Someone pretending to have AA/KK to take control of the hand and bluff you postflop
3) A misclick with a hand, that was intending to fold or call

You started this hand with 43BB, and if AQ is beat on this board, its just a cooler. There is no straight or flush possible and no logical 2 pair. If you fold, you are basically putting him on one combo of AA and then maybe AK/99/44 assuming, that these hands would min 3-bet preflop, which makes no sense at all.

Its much more reasonable to jam a flushdraw on the turn than to min 3-bet AK/99/44/A9/A4 out of position preflop.

Limp pot. J9 and 96 are already in on the flop. 9x is open-ended. The K on the turn doesn't connect. Why would he not have a set? Limp pot,.77 is there for sure, maybe 88, not likely TT as that would open. He also has every 2 pair combo here.

By the way since this was 888 Poker, you had at least the inbuild HUD-stats on him from the entire game including hands played on tables, where you were not present. And in a situation like this I would really look at those to determine, what kind of players this is, and what that min 3-bet preflop is likely to represent. And if this was someone with maniac stats, there no way I am ever folding here, and more likely I am 4-bet jamming preflop. But if it was a nit, yeah ok then maybe I can get on board with it assuming, that whatever he was min 3-betting preflop for whatever reason, he is likely not running some massive bluff on a final table, and we dont beat anything, that a nit would be jamming for value on the turn.

K2s hand

Preflop
I would only raise here with strong hands like maybe KJ or better, and I would only fold junk. Any suited hand is an easy complete. Since this is the player from the other hand, we can already classify him as a recreational player AKA fish, since he min 3-bet in that hand, and now he is limping his BTN as the covering stack. No good player would ever take these lines.

Flop
Since its a limped pot, I like to do a lot of leading, when I connect. Alternatively you can check-raise and be willing to call it off, if he jam. Check-calling is my least preferred option but still beat check-folding.

Turn
Now he overbet jam, even though he is in position, and this is the second time, we have seen him take this kind of line. Its tough to believe, he always has it, and you are never drawing dead, except if he has like A8 of hearts exactly. But on the other side there are a lot of hands in his range, you are behind to in this one. He might have flopped a straight, flopped or turned two pair, or even just have a K with a better kicker, that he bet on the flop, when both opponents checked to him.

Improving to top pair only put you ahead of A high or a hand like TX, which is probably not jamming the turn, now that its reduced to second pair. You are facing a 2,5X the size of the pot bet, which mean, you are clearly not getting the pot odds to draw, when you are behind. So to justify calling here, you need to assume, that he has a fairly high percentage of bluffs in his range. I think, this is a close decision, and I dont hate the call. But I would rather have called in the AQ hand.

Egy all-in a skáládba KK-val öngyilkosság.

Egyre több orrszőrrel borít be minket.
Yeah, that was my first thought too — AK, AA — and I threw it in, so I never knew what his hand was.

Thank you for your reply!

In that case, I would isolate BTN and narrow my BB range as well, but I would throw a lot weaker hands with them; I lost 7.6 BB on the flop.

Yes, it would help a lot to analyze the situation, but unfortunately it is not possible to look at them in retrospect.

888 Poker still allow the use of external trackers like PT4. And then you can see the HUD-stats even, when you look at the hand afterwards. But obviously its in real time, that its important to pay attention to this to make better decisions. We dont need to stare at them always, but when someone take an unusual line like min 3-betting us preflop and then bombing flop and turn, it can help us get a better idea about, whats going on.

K2s kéz

Preflop
Egyetlen jó játékos sem vállalná ezeket a sorokat.

Flop

Thank you for your reply!
F raised big again, so I didn't 3-bet

Do you often raise with strong drawing hands OP? I usually check-raise, and as you mentioned, I’ll also go all-in with strong drawing hands.

Yeah, a lot of hands beat this here, and with 845,000 chips, I still would’ve finished fourth, which

Yeah, in hindsight, callingAQ would’ve been a much better option—it loses to far fewer combinations than here. He’s definitely limping wide here, and I ended up getting knocked out of the tournament. These Final Table mistakes always cost a lot.

In a limped pot like this, my more common play would be to lead out. Looking at it again, he did bet fairly large, and I check-raise less against big bets compared to small bets. So maybe it is fine to check-call, if you are not going to lead. Obviously raising into his nuts would not have ended well for you.
Geo90 said:

It was probably the K on the turn, that doomed you. With just a K high flushdraw, it would be an easy fold to a 2,5X the pot overbet. The K looked like, it helped you, but against his value range it gave you only a few more outs at best.
Geo90 said:

Since he showed the nuts in this hand, its quite possible, he also had it in the other one, and that you made a good fold. But there were at least far less combinations of hands, you lost to, and especially less logical combinations given the preflop action.

The flop smashes a typical limping range with a ton of flopped straights and two pair.

Not exactly super surpricing. I think, the hand is a good example on, how we can often fold a lot to big overbets on the turn or river, because they are rarely bluffs. At least not in low stakes games.

Limp pot, always remember, everyone is equal here and everyone is wide (although at this stack depth everyone is also capped). This means that any card on the board that does not help our hand is dangerous. We have no read because we can't narrow range. Anyone could have 2-pair or set, and if it's wet, anyone might have it.

If we whiff a limp pot we are playing blindfolded. That is what happened here.
