Every online tournament pool has players who seem to shove pre-flop with any two cards just to build a stack or bust quickly. What is your exact strategy for neutralizing these 'all-in' players without exposing your own bankroll to massive, unnecessary variance?

Tighten up and go for it mostly with the top top range of your hands, only. And avoid unnecessary battles with marginal hands, unless you are a gambler as well.

I patiently wait until I have a hand that gives me a decent chance if I call an all-in, although players like that usually get lucky and can even beat pocket Aces with a 7-2 offsuit.

What are you even talking about? What level is it? What stack sizes is it? What is the buyin?

The counter is to understand their range and adjust your calling range.

Just put the hands and the format into an icm tool, then update their range and look at what you should call with in that specific situation, lather, rinse, repeat.

I don't think the best way to deal with these players is to fight every all-in. If someone is constantly shoving with almost any two cards, I would simply wait for a strong enough hand and let them put their chips at risk. I would also pay attention to their stack size and position. With a deep stack, there is no reason to risk a large portion of my tournament life with a marginal hand just because I think they are playing badly. If I have a premium hand, I am happy to let them make the mistake and take the risk. The biggest thing is patience. These players will eventually put themselves in difficult spots, so I don't need to force the situation. I would rather pick a good spot, get my chips in with a clear advantage, and avoid unnecessary variance. For me, the goal is not to eliminate the all-in player as quickly as possible. The goal is to make better decisions than them over the long run.

I don't try to fight these players every time. I usually wait for a strong hand and let them put their chips at risk. I also watch their stack size and position.
