Has anyone successfully built a bankroll strictly from freerolls? (No deposits)

Hey everyone,
I'm curious about the ultimate online poker challenge and wanted to ask the community:
Has anyone actually built a bankroll starting strictly from online freerolls, without ever making a single deposit?
I am talking about grinding out those micro-prizes ($0.50, $1, $2 at a time), taking those tiny winnings to the lowest micro-stakes cash tables or Sit & Gos, and successfully spinning it up. [1, 2]
If you managed to do this:

• How long did it take you to build a comfortable bankroll?

I’ve never done it completely from freerolls, but I think it’s definitely possible, especially if you treat the first few dollars as a bankroll-building challenge rather than trying to make money quickly.
The biggest challenge is probably the transition. Freerolls are extremely chaotic, so the strategy that works there isn’t necessarily the one you want at micro-stakes. Once you have a small bankroll, I’d stick to the absolute lowest stakes, play very tight, and focus on bankroll management rather than trying to spin $2 into $200 overnight.
