The way to do the math in bounty tournaments is to convert the value of the bounty to chips. Lets say the starting stack is 5.000 chips, and its the traditional PKO structure, where half the price pool is bounties, and you only win half the bounty, when you knock someone out. Then a bounty is worth 5.000 / 4 = 1.250 chips. This number will go up during the tournament, as money is taken out of the price pool either by players being knocked out, or by the tournament having reached ITM. But typically bounties will also go up, as surviving players are more likely to have knocked someone out.
Lets say, someone have lost most of their stack, and blinds have also gone up. Blinds are now 50/100, and this player only have 1.400 chips left, which is 14BB. It folds to them in CO, and they jam all-in. BTN and SB fold, and now action is on us in BB. Assuming a 1BB ante, normally we would be paying 13BB to win a pot of 2 X 14BB + 1,5BB (SB and ante) = 29,5BB. In Chip-EV we would need 44% equity to make a break-even call. We can use a program like ICMizer to give us our calling range, but we can also pull out Equilab and assign them a range ourselfes.
I would assume, that someone, who lost most of their chips, are probably a little tilted and want to get back in the game. So my range for this player will be any pair, any suited ace, A8o+, KJ+, T9s+, which is 20% of hands. 95s has 34.4% equity against that range, so as expected that would be a clear fold in a normal game. However with the bounty we can win a pot of 2 X 14BB + 1,5BB + 12,5BB = 42BB, so now we only need 31.0% equity, and 95s is a profitable call. However we should still not be calling with any two cards. For instance J2o only has 29,2% equity and should be folded.
