I'd say it helps the skilled players more, give them the opportunity and platform to go again

I think re-entries generally benefit skilled players more than recreational players. Strong players can take advantage of the extra opportunities because they usually have an edge over the field. If they bust early due to variance, they can re-enter and continue applying that edge.

Recreational players benefit too, especially if they traveled to play a tournament and don't want their day to end after one bad hand. However, frequent re-entries can become expensive and may encourage some players to take risks they wouldn't normally take in a freezeout event.

From a competitive standpoint, freezeouts tend to level the playing field a bit more because everyone gets only one bullet. Re-entry tournaments, on the other hand, reward both skill and bankroll depth.

Overall, I believe re-entries increase the long-term advantage of skilled players, while recreational players mostly gain the convenience of having another chance after an early elimination. :)

I think re-entries help skilled players more in the long run.

Good players already have an edge over the field, so giving them another chance after an early bust-out allows them to realize that edge more often. They can also afford to play a bit more aggressively in certain spots knowing they have the option to re-enter.

That said, recreational players benefit too because re-entries let them keep enjoying the event after an unlucky exit.

From a purely competitive standpoint, though, I think re-entries favor the stronger players. The more opportunities skill has to overcome variance, the more likely the best players are to rise to the top. ♠️🏆
