I definitely wouldn’t bet my entire stack just because I hit a straight. A paired board on the river changes everything because a full house is possible, and even a set can have improved by the river. My decision depends on the action, the opponent’s range, the bet sizing and whether my straight is the nuts. If the opponent shows serious aggression, I’m willing to fold rather than pay them off just because my hand looks strong. If the action is passive, I might value-bet a reasonable amount. Poker isn’t about protecting every good hand at all costs; it’s about making the most profitable decision with the information available.
