Do you ever feel like momentum is real in tournaments?

Sometimes after winning a few pots in a row, everything feels easier and decisions feel more natural. Other times, after losing a couple hands, it can feel like the whole tournament changes.

I know poker is mostly about decisions and math, but confidence and momentum still seem to affect how people play.

Do you think momentum is actually real in tournaments, or is it mostly psychological?

Being on a heater is one of the most glorious feelings in a tournament, realizing when it's stopped is crucial.

I think at the beginning and middle of the game its psychological. People tend to remember the outliers more than the common event, so if the villan raised 3x in a row they will remember that more than them folding 3 hands in a row.

When the bubble hits, I think its just people "poning" ie taking advantage of the bubble.

Momentum in poker does exist, but it is usually connected more to a player’s psychology than to the cards themselves. After winning several hands in a row, confidence grows: decisions come more naturally, opponents feel less intimidating, and the game seems easier.
After a series of losses, the opposite often happens — a player starts doubting their decisions, loses patience, or tries to recover chips too quickly. Because of this, the quality of decision-making changes, even though the mathematics of the game remains the same.
That is why tournament poker is not only about strategy, but also about the ability to stay calm and think clearly after both victories and defeats.

It's real when you get the hands you need and accumulate chips, it's the best feeling, and when you lose I feel bad. Just this afternoon I was eliminated by a Kk vs 777, and the feeling is horrible, but in the end, I think I did the right thing, I went all-in and he hit the three of a kind.

Definitely. In tournaments, confidence and rhythm can completely change how a player or team performs. Once momentum kicks in, it often feels like everything starts flowing their way.
