Do you think people bust too quickly after doubling up?

I’ve seen a lot of tournament players double their stack and then immediately start playing far more aggressively than before.

Sometimes it works, but other times they lose everything shortly after building a great stack.

Not too much, it seems to be well balanced. But those that do, do it frenetically.

I don't think they bust quickly. Depending on the stacks, you can do more things. I think they might make the mistake of overdoing those things. They might try to steal the pot too much, they might try to 3-bet pre-flop too often, or call too much thinking about implied odds. Losing some of those plays, coupled with the increase in blinds, will cause their stacks to dwindle very quickly.

Especially at micro-lowish stakes MTT's. I see it time and time again so I'd say yeah and in my opinion or at least it's what I call poor game/MTT management. They double and instantly think oh my look at all these chips I have so they start playing every 2nd or 3rd hand no position or cards for the most part not thinking as quick as the blinds go up online in couple rounds you're dam near back where you started before you doubled up. On top playing those extra hands that's pretty much puts them busted.

Once you get to over $11+ buy-in MTT's I don't see it as much and mostly when I do villain actually has a good hand just over played it a bit or gets sucked out on.

Personally if I see I player have just doubled up early with what I'd consider a marginal hand to start with and then ended up all in with it I'll start targeting playing hands against that player for the next couple of rounds. Cards willing, it's easier when you have position and having a TAG image really helps.

Cheers!!!

Its not something, I have noticed as a tendency no. But of course bad players do many bad things, including overadjusting to their stack size.

I think many players get overconfident after a double-up and start taking unnecessary risks. A bigger stack is a tool to apply pressure, not a reason to gamble. Staying disciplined is often what turns a double-up into a deep run.

Players are different, tournaments are different, tournament stages are different. What you think happens often can actually be called a completely normal development of the game.

Yes, I think it happens quite often. After doubling up, some players feel invincible and start taking unnecessary risks. A bigger stack gives you more options, but it shouldn’t change the quality of your decision-making
