Hyper, turbo or slow

The slower the clock, the more tables that we can simultaneously play and give full attention to.

I prefer slower structures because they give me more time to make better decisions and apply pressure. Hypers can be profitable too, but they require a different strategy and much higher variance.

I prefer turbo. It gives you enough time to make good decisions while still keeping the game fast and exciting. Hyper is fun, but the variance is much higher

In a fast-paced tournament, you need to be hyper-focused. There’s no room for mistakes. If you make a mistake, there’s no chance to recover. It’s a great exercise for patience and focus.

When it comes to tournaments, the slower the structure, the better for me. I really don't enjoy turbo or hyper-turbo tournaments because everything happens so quickly and there is much less room to make decisions. I prefer tournaments with longer levels and deeper stacks, where you have more time to read your opponents, choose your spots and actually play some poker instead of constantly worrying about the blinds going up. In a slow tournament, I feel like patience and good decisions have more time to matter. Turbo and hyper formats can be fun, but they are definitely not my favorite.

I think it depends on what kind of game you want to play. Slow tournaments give you more room to use reads and postflop skills, while hyper-turbos force you to make decisions with less information. Sometimes I actually like hyper when I don't have much time, but I prefer slow structures when I want to really focus on my game.

I prefer normal games. Hyper/Turbo forces you to make quick decisions, while “Slow” is just too slow.
But everyone decides for themselves which type works best for them and has proven reliable.

Definitely. For online I prefer 10 or 12 minute blinds, and for live it's 15 or 20 minutes. I'm not a fan of longer blinds because it drags the tourney out too long plus, at least with live, the entry fees are usually more than I really want to pay. The online hyper ones are just too fast for me. 🙂

There are turbo and slow formats, but I prefer slow tournaments; I feel more comfortable playing them, even though they take longer and require a greater time commitment.

I don't have much time to play poker right now, so I prefer Hyper-Turbos with short late registration.
