Is it possible to make extra money with poker?

I really like to play mtt's, which last about 3 to 5 hours (to get to the ITM), however, we can't always get over the bubble.

Do you think it's possible to make around 200 to 300 dollars a month playing MTT alone? Or do the players who earn income from this play another sport?

Yes, it’s possible, but MTT income is very swingy. Some months you can make $500+, other months lose even if you play well. Bubble runs are normal in tournaments.
Making $200–300 a month from MTTs only is realistic if:
1)you study and improve,
2)play enough volume,
3)have good bankroll management,
4)and play softer/smaller fields.
A lot of winning players also mix in cash games or other poker formats because MTT variance is high. But some people do make side income only from online MTTs too.

Yes, it's possible, you just need consistency and patience. It also depends on your buy-in; play satellites too, they're always profitable.

Playing cash, yes, Tournaments take longer, and there are often bad streaks.

Possible yes, but not easy. Unfortunately, the good years of online poker are gone. Nowadays, you need to study a lot and work on your mental game to succeed.

$200-300 a month is absolutely realistic if we are talking about a long-term perspective of 1-2 years. You can have an average of $200-300 a month and that is absolutely realistic, but you will probably need to work more than 5 hours a day.

Yes its possible, and I would say not even that difficult, and it does not require you to play full time either. You can make $200-300 per month (or more) playing only during weekends, evenings and holidays, and still have a regular job. But as others have said, its not going to be like a regular paycheck. Sometimes you might win $1.000+ in a single month, and other times you might be down over 6 month or more.

As others have said, you need to play at least reasonably well (but you dont need to be a GTO Wizard or anything like that), put in volume (like 4-5 tables at a time), implement bankroll management (at least 100X your highest buyin), and avoid major tilt issues. And the stakes, you should be looking to play for that earnings target, would be something like $3.3-$11.

Slow MTTs are however not very practical on days, where you work, so I would strongly advice to mix in some faster games as well. Could be turbo or hyperturbo MTTs, or could be SnGs, especially the On Demand type, which are essentially just small MTTs typically lasting around 1-2 hours. This is, what most micro and low stakes grinders do.

Of course it's possible, you even make more, you just need to study mtt's strategy and keep improving your game skills and stay disciplined with your bankroll strategy

For some, $200 might take 5mins., for others it might take 10years (if ever).

To make money in poker you must first dedicate a lot of time and money to the game, it's not that easy to make overnight profits. That's what I believe. salutes

The hardest part is accepting the variance. A lot of players quit too early because they expect steady results from tournaments, but MTTs are more like “long-term profit” than weekly salary. The key is volume + discipline + right play and study. Most people just go with 2 out of those 3. Also very important: bankroll management and realistic expectations. If your bankroll is tiny and you’re taking shots too high, one bad month can wipe you out mentally and financially. That`s why you could also find a team to play for. Most professionals play for teams, and they also get personal study roadmaps to follow.

It's possible to earn more.

depends what you mean by extra money, 1k yearly is very doable.

I think it is very doable,depends on what stakes your playing,if your playing .25 or .50 cent Mtts or if your playing $5 Mtts,if your playing micro I doubt it but if your playing $5 and up and your good I think its very doable,but you need a bankroll and be good enough to handle the huge swings

Of course it is possible.
But you either need talent or you need to learn a lot, improve your game and stay mentally strong.
In MTTs the variance will also be higher, so you should have a big enough bankroll.

$200-$300 - is real, it's possible.
But more than that, I think it will be difficult.
