Why is the last hand that always drops from tournaments 99's 1010's? Should I give up on that hand when it's a short chip?

Why do you think this always happens?
Have you noticed this pattern?
If so, then congratulations, patterns can allow you to make money :)

It’s not “always” — those bust-outs just stick in your memory.
99 and TT are good but not premium hands: often it’s a coin flip.
With a short stack, you usually shouldn’t fold — these are hands to go all-in with.
Bottom line: you’re likely playing it right, sometimes it just doesn’t go your way.

A good all-in card with a short stack, even at 33, 55, and 66. If it's easier for you, I beat a player with 99 three times a day in a hand where I have AA.

Are you referring to the last hand in tournaments? They're usually not big hands. I'm lucky enough to win small tournaments, and I remember winning that one with 9j vs A10. Luck was on my side, and I hit a pair of 9s and won that tournament.

Any pocket pairs are good when the table is tight. You go all in with 99 or TT, let's say the opponent calls with AJ, AQ, AK. The chances of winning are about 50/50. How to flip a coin.

With few chips, maybe your decision will make it the last hand.
