IMO, because that maximizes the profit for the poker room. Gives more people time to buy into the game.

True . It’s mostly for profit reasons, but from a player’s side it also changes the dynamics a lot.
I usually prefer joining around the middle of the late registration period not too early, not at the very end so the stacks are still playable, but the field is already a bit filtered.

The bigger the amount of bonus money added to the pot the longer the late registration period. It works. The house never loses.

It’s definitely to get more players in the game, which I’m ok with because it ups the prize pool.

This. I'm playing a tourney now that had 5.5h (!) of late reg lmao. Stretched out the pay zone too much.

I don't like America Card Room tournaments just because of the very long late registration. When you start a tournament, by the end of late registration, after 5 hours, you just get tired of playing, and this is in a $1 tournament.

on the ACR and Redstar always same thing - long registration on some tourneys is 4-5hours :) it is so boring... you have 200-300BBs stack and people just going crazy during late reg... i think answer for your question is to make Bigger prize pool

Because it's good for the creator of the tournament, think about what you did to get more out of the tournament

If people want to rebuy with 7.5BB and boost the prize pool, that's great when your ahead. Gonna create a big of a variance bump on most tables, give and take.

I wish 1-2 max rebuy tournies were still more popular, hell, even freezeouts have more meaning to each hand, in my humble opinion. Not that I don't fire away when I'm confident I can put together a stack, is what it is.

The entrance ticket is $1, the prize is $500... 300 people have registered... How long will it be late to check in? )

If the reason for late reg. is to make more profit, why late reg. for freerolls?

The room should beat the guarantee, if you want to play without late play SNG tournaments

I'd assume it is to give as many of their players who want to a chance to play the tourney.

Would like to see Replay freerolls open for an hour. People have other commitments and can't always make it within 18 minutes. Especially those of us who look after grand children while their parents are working.

There are cases where the tournament is guaranteed and before registration, it doesn't cover the guaranteed amount; that's what late registrations are for! I registered at the last minute and won 1st place!

The later you register, the stronger the field will be, because many of the fish will already be eliminated. The later you register for a tournament, the lower your ROI will be due to higher variance. But if you're okay with variance and play well with a short stack, then you can safely use late registration.

Late registrations in poker tournaments are long because organizers want to maximize the number of entrants, prize pools, and flexibility for players juggling multiple events. It’s less about fairness and more about logistics and revenue.
