Lets say we qualify with 10 Dollars for a hundred dollar tournament. How important does a mincash become in the target tournament? I've read about players here who would even fold Aces on the bubble of the target tournament to get itm.

What is your opinion?

My best result from a satellite was making the money in the target tournament. It feels so much better when you turn a small satellite buy-in into a cash in the main event. Definitely one of the most satisfying moments in poker! ♠️💰

I suppose but I have felt better while busting out of a $320 buyin on Titan (iPoker site, many years ago) after qualifying via satellite by going after it and attempting to put my opponent in a bad spot. Yah I didn't make it to first break but I think I played it correctly.

And my answer to OP, if you're planning to fold AA preflop in an MTT, do not enter it in the first place. If you got there from a cheap satty... quit playing satties as they will not be profitable for you in the longrun. I mean come on.. you HAVE TO GO FOR IT! By folding you're not giving yourself a shot at placing high. MTTs are not about survival (satellites are) they are about accumulating, put others in bad spots, making some Hero Calls ... because a) you can and b) because you've been trying to accumulate chips so that you can
etc etc etc

The whole idea of playing the satellite in the first place was presumably the dream of potentially winning big money. So dont ruin this by playing overly conservative on the bubble to lock up a cash, you could also have had playing a regular $10 tournament. Maybe we can take some more pot controlling lines like avoiding light valuebets on the river against a tough opponent or just calling preflop with hands, we would usually 3-bet. But mostly we should just ignore the stakes and play poker.

I never in my life folded Aces pre to make it itm if it was not a satellite. And also not planning to. But I've read this here from another member and wanted to get some opinions.

Both good ones, thanks 👍
