Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to online poker and lately I've been thinking a lot about the mental aspect of the game. Specifically, I wanted to talk about the psychological impact of going “All-In”.
As a beginner, every time I bet all my chips in the center of the table, or when someone forces me to make a decision risking my entire stack, my heart races. Even when I know that I have the odds in my favor or a strong hand, the fear of being eliminated or losing my chips causes me a lot of anxiety.
Sometimes it feels like a roller coaster ride, and I realize that after a decisive moment (win or lose), my emotions take control and affect my next decisions.

If it’s causing an unhealthy state of mind for you, maybe this is not the game you should be playing. Or maybe you are playing in too high of a buy in. If you are playing more for fun then it is just an experience thing. The more you play and the more confident you get with your game, that should go away. Whenever you go all in, unless you got the stone nuts, there will always be that chance of loosing, that’s just part of the game. Good luck!

I’ve been playing poker for a while, and what you’re describing is completely normal. With experience, you learn that the all-in itself isn’t the problem. What matters is whether you’re making the right decision based on the situation. You also learn not to get too emotional after an all-in. Losing can put you on tilt, but winning can make you overconfident and lead to unnecessary risks. Sometimes you can make the right play and still get eliminated. That’s simply part of poker. The goal isn’t to avoid all-ins. It’s to make sure that when you put your tournament life on the line, you have a good reason for doing it

Jared Tendler author " The Mental Game of Poker" It is excellent resource for tilt which is what you are describing.

The difference between gambling and playing winning poker is, that winning poker players have learned to focus on their decisions and their long term results rather than the result of individual hands or games. As poker legend Doyle Brunson said in the introduction to the Poker After Dark TV-show 2 decades ago, "poker is not about winning or losing, its about making the right decisions". Its a mental process, which takes time, and for most of us we never get quite past some sort of emotional reaction, when we lose, even if its a short one.

Well at least you know and willing admit that's part of you're game you need to work and focus on that's a start. I haven't read it(I have mental game under control for the most part).......but as eetenor said just above Jared Tendler's " The Mental Game of Poker" is an excellent resource for tilt and the mental side of the game pretty everyone recommends it. I plan to buy it just add to my poker book collection even if I don't ever read it.

Cheers!!!

Sometimes it feels like a roller coaster ride, and I realize that after a decisive moment (win or lose), my emotions take control and affect my next decisions.
We all had those Heart Racing moments. Rollercoaster of emotion when we go All-in with "Strong" hand and end up loosing at the end.
Those moments and situation in poker are inevitable.
To avoid those tense moments, that rollercoaster of emotion, sweaty palms and thumping heart, I use very simple, but very effective method.
After some years of playing I got the general idea with what cards should I play. When to hold my cards or when to fold them.
After ALL-IN decision, I don't look at what goes on with the coming cards. Only thing that is relevant is outcome at the end.
I close or divert eyes or put paper over the screen where the cards are, and I wait for the hand to end.
It may sound silly, but it can easily be tried and tested, so you can see it for yourself.
Guaranteed to eliminate the tension and stress from those All-in situations.
