Lately I’ve been trying to improve my game by finding the right balance between aggression and discipline.
Sometimes I feel like I’m too passive and miss value spots where I should be applying pressure. Other times, I catch myself forcing action in spots where patience would clearly be better.
It’s tricky because both extremes can cost you money in different ways.
I’m starting to think the key is not playing more aggressively or more tightly overall, but just choosing better spots based on the opponent and situation.
How do you guys balance aggression and patience in your game?

Lately, I’ve been increasingly realizing that poker doesn’t really have a single “correct mode” — neither pure aggression nor pure caution.
Sometimes I wait too long and miss spots where pressure would have been profitable. Other times, I act too quickly and end up in situations where patience would have been the stronger play.
With every tournament, I’m starting to understand that balance is not about playing the same way all the time, but about switching at the right moment. The opponent, table dynamics, and stack sizes matter more than my overall style.
And perhaps most importantly, I’m learning not to argue with the game itself. Just to see the moment and act in it, without trying to prove to myself that I’m an “aggressive” or “disciplined” player.
