I’ve been reviewing my online MTT hands lately, and I’m starting to realize that understanding poker concepts is one thing, but consistently applying them is another.

For me, one area I’m paying attention to is river decisions. Sometimes I have a strong-looking hand, but the opponent’s line tells a different story. It’s easy to focus on the strength of my own cards instead of asking what worse hands would actually take that line.

What has been the hardest leak for you to fix? Was it calling too much, playing too passively preflop, bluffing in the wrong spots, or something completely different?

One thing I think can be difficult to improve is being able to vary the way you play poker. Sometimes you always play the way you're supposed to, instead of opening up your range against very tight players, for example, and doing the opposite against looser players. You have to play based on your cards, your opponents, and your position. If we adjust these things depending on the situation, we can become more profitable players.

Swap to BB even if your 500k / 1M stack in deeprun, and accept that even in deep runs you sometime have to swing your stack 🙂

Also, improving opening ranges, 3 bet / steals, and learning equity, think in blockers/combos.

Oh and sorry, reading your actual text, you need to play balanced, and learn to fold your AA or straights once in a while when you know your beaten.

Those moments you 90% sure he has hit it, and you pay him of like F it I wanna see and your right, is losing a ton of EV.

Understanding ranges like you said, making sense out of their play, and using this in your advantage is key.

For example I use a lot of river blocker bets to figure out if they have it or not, sometimes it will allow them to pay with marginal hands instead of giving you a super though decission on a big bet. And sometimes they raise you and you can make sense that they actually have it and you only paid about 25-30% pot for example.

For me, it's usually calling too much on the river 😂 sometimes you get too attached to your hand and think that any opponent could be bluffing when in fact they just have a good hand and were playing it correctly. I think I'm starting to focus more on what they're representing than my hand strength ♠️

For me, one of the hardest leaks to fix is calling too much, especially when I have a decent hand and don't want to believe my opponent has something better. Sometimes it's better to fold and wait for a better spot instead of paying to see if I'm right. I'm still working on making these folds without feeling like I'm giving up too easily.
