When playing tournaments my goal is to play my best game possible from my first hand to my last hand. I play in Vegas every summer and to be the best I can be I prepare months in advance for this. If I’m going to be in the fight of my life, and I really want to hunt for a bracelet seriously then I need to prepare. I also want to have as much fun as possible doing this. I know the chance of this ever happening is basically zero lol one player wins, hundreds or thousands, depending on the tournament, won’t. That’s ok, I’m ok with that. But I want to be competitive, I want to be in the fight, and someday maybe I’ll get my chance.
My first goal is cashing. A lot of people dismiss min cashing but I don’t. You know what’s worse than min cashing a big tournament? Not min cashing a big tournament.
So once that goal of min cashing happens, then I see just how far I can go into the money.
Tournament poker to me is awesome! I hope everyone can get a chance to do what I get to do, so I never take it for granted when I get to play in one.
My home game is different as far as my goal is concerned. There I want all of my guests to have the best time possible. Good food, good company, good music, and a good time for all. That is what is important to me. I’m 62, retired, my wife plays, my Dad who is 87 plays, my Step Mom plays, my Wife’s Mom and Dad plays, my Daughter in Law plays, and we always open it up to a few more guests. It’s a once a month deal with a nice 25.00 buy in so it’s affordable for everyone. Usually lasts like 5-6 hours. And it’s been going on for 20 years now lol.
Good luck everyone! Hope you all have as much fun as I do, I am super lucky in this life and I am glad I can share all my poker thoughts in this great forum!
