What's the best time to re-enter ?

I personally like to re-enter up to 50 blinds; it allows me to have better gameplay, especially isolating limps and 3-bets.
But I've seen professionals re-entering at the last minute of late registration, seeking to reduce variance and the possibility of reaching the prize money.

Do you specifically mean re-enter or late buy in?

If I'm playing a rebuy strategy I like to get straight back in and get stack building before the rebuy period closes, am I missing a trick?

Good question — there’s no single “correct” answer, it all depends on your goal.
1. Early/mid re-entry (like you do)
Entering with ~50 BB
Pros:
more room to play
can apply pressure, isolate limpers, make 3-bets
higher chance to build a stack and play for top spots
Cons:
higher variance (longer play, more risk)
Best if: you’re playing to win and confident in your edge.
2. Late re-entry (end of registration)
Entering with a short stack
Pros:
lower variance
faster path to ITM
weaker players are often already eliminated
Cons:
limited play (push/fold)
harder to build a big stack
Best if: your goal is consistent cashes and lower risk.
Conclusion
Want maximum profit and top finishes → enter early (50 BB is great)
Want lower variance and more frequent cashes → enter late
Optimal approach: combine both
For example: enter early first, and if you bust, re-enter late.

I think the best time to re-enter depends on the game. Usually I prefer to do it early, so I have more time to build a stack. If the table looks easy, I can re-enter right away

Imo if you started with 100+ bb and will have more that 40 after rebuy

My MLR is always at the last second, but I play Mystery more often.

It's better to play early in a tournament when you still have plenty of blinds on the stack, and you're more likely to play more hands than when you go all in with 10 big blinds and have to take risks.

I think it's a judgement call, every tournament's dynamics is different as well as ITM, etc. I did both with and without success.

I am not a professional, and I prefer to play without re-entry. But if there is a need and I see potential, then I am ready to take the risk and make a re-entry. It all depends on the situation. Each such case is very individual.

I like to re-entering at the last minute of late registration, that´s work for me.

I prefer to enter the tournament early because I can exponentially increase my stack against those who have little technique and knowledge about the game.

Anything under 25BBs and I don't re or late enter.
