“I think one of the toughest moments in tournaments is busting deep after hours of good play.
How do you reset mentally after that?
Do you take a break, review hands, meditate, or something else?”

Take a few hours off, to meditate on what I failed, so as not to commit the same mistake again.

Accept variance

Move down in stakes

Review your play

Control tilt

Strengthen your mental game

Focus on decisions, not results

Study consistently

Follow strict bankroll rules

Take care of your mental and physical health

With this approach, every downswing becomes temporary.

Don’t get stuck on a loss — accept it, learn from it, and move forward. The important thing is to restore your emotional balance first, and then work on improving.

It’s tough, but recovery is mostly mental reset.

Take a short break — don’t jump straight into another game while emotions are high.

Remind yourself that a deep run is a positive result, even if it didn’t end in a win.

Review key hands later, not immediately, to learn without frustration.

Focus on long-term consistency — one tournament doesn’t define your results.

I am of the opinion that first of all it would be to study the hands you lost, to always analyze them with a person who has more knowledge of poker than you and to study those spots where you lost them, I feel that it is the best way to start and, above all, to have discipline and accept the decision you made, whether it is bad or that it is good, because even the bad decision teaches.

Try taking a chance on another hand to try to recover some chips and double your balance, then continue playing and retrieving chips!

poker can have incredibly stressful moments thats why i find it good to meditate - have good rest and to eat well. Exercise is a great way of relieving stress.

All this talk about meditating and reviewing hands is great, but let’s be real - the first 10 minutes after a deep-run bust usually involve me staring blankly at the wall and questioning why I chose this hobby! 😂 Honestly though, the best reset for me is just stepping away from the screen entirely. If I try to "study" while I’m still salty about a bad beat at the final table, I’m just going to end up arguing with the solver. A walk or a snack (mostly a snack) :D works wonders.
