I like the turn overbet, to call that he must have a strong draw like Ah with either the Q or J.
If the K wasn't a heart I would have bet around 20bb (fold to a raise) to pick up calls from his 2 pair hands.
Its such a bad card as it brings in all his AQ and other random Qh xh as well as his flush draws that check fold is ok by me.

A terrible day at the tables. Around a loss of $40.

Overall I played really bad making stupid decisions but on the luck side quite unfortunate as well.
Lost 2 buyins AA<KK catching a set & my kings running to aces pre & queens into kings.
Tourneys were terrible. Made really bad moves to get me knocked out & didn't even make the money in a single one.
So damn tilted!

Yeah I've had this spot a few times now and I must admit I don't know.

It's 77 and that's it if we are losing, but do we expect him to hold A7 and call down, call with A5 or call 2 streets with A2 and look to get it in on the river. I guess if he thinks with AK/AQ/AT than maybe. If this guy was a loose/passive or worse player than definitely snap that, but against a TAG reg it's tricky. It will be good to hear what others think

You have like a 15spr on that flop. Yes you flop great but your decision should be there.. you probably cant get stacks in there vs a worse hand unless he is a total donk which he is not from his stats.
When you overbet turn it's soooooo strong.. even If he goes frazy somehow with KsQs chasing the big draw.. he missed on river so just check the river, You cant get value from anything.

I think the turn bet is too big and will fold out too much weak Ax that might otherwise call a smaller bet. The river I think you went too big. I wouldn't bet more than 28bb. I'd be in the range 24-28.
Your sizing was pot committing.
btn v bb I'd expect him to just call with a lot of Ax so
I think there is value to be had from AT A9 A8 A7 right down to A2 especially suited but you need to milk these hands with smaller bets. If you then get raised on the end you can still get away as you aren't so committed. It would still be difficult to get away from this hand though. top two v bottom set happens fairly often and because you block the board there isn't much else it can be. Especially if they raise on the flop. I have sometimes folded in those spots and written the bottom set hand in the chat window getting the reply "how did you know"?

Last 800 hands lost 4 buyins but somehow managed to get it all back. Still on a loss of +4 buyins tho

But learned a little secret. So my image in the 5NL pool should be pretty bad right now. Cause no one is giving me respect & calls down full stack with Overpairs/top pairs etc on my bluffs. So I'm gonna greatly reduce my bluffing range & try to disguise my value range as bluffs.

Today was at a 3buy in+ profit. Then ran a bluff AQ<JJ for 150BB+. Then tried to bluff Kings on a A high 3card FD board & he didn't lay it down.


Now sitting at a -60BB loss. So damn frustrated. Can't seem to get any of the bluffs going & not getting value either. Totally fed up

Yes but that is not how it works since anything can happen in a "short session". If You start the month +30bi (bi not bb) and after 2 weeks you are down to -10bi but end the month like +25bi. Was it a bad month? It was a really good month actually. In 2 months you can actually move up in stakes.

These swings are insane. So I've managed to go down 3 buyins then get back 5 buy ins all within just around 500 hands.

Some will say heresy but you are allowed to protect your winnings with a bit more pot control and a little less playing for stacks.
It won't be max EV but if the swings are causing you to tilt then any profit banked is better than all profits tilt spewed.


There is a balance here that every player has to find.



If you can stand the swings then play max EV, if you can't then take some lower variance lines.
