Yeah I guess I should, played a session today, lost about $2 all standard but just was not enjoying it. Maybe time for some live?

A couple things. I'm in a minor rush so my thoughts may be disorganized here - if you wanna talk this out on skype or through pm then you know where to find me (I think a lot about random crap when it comes to poker haha).

But, my 30-second speed thoughts: Don't shift to live if you are not enjoying playing online. It's possible it'd go fine, but imo it's better to throw some live play in when you are feeling psyched about poker in general. If you're not rolled for live this is even more true (take it from someone who knows).

Lastly, as was said, figuring out why you care about poker can go a long way toward making you enjoy it more. And I'm not talking about a 2-minute, in your head, series of thoughts of "I want to crush poker cause I like winning." I mean sit down, give yourself a solid 30-45 minute chunk of time, and reflect and write down the reasons you think you play poker. For me this involved writing down my poker goals and ideals both short and long term. When I did this, I realized that poker meant a lot more to me than I had thought. There was some stuff floating around subconsciously in the background that I hadn't addressed.

I actually recommend doing that ^ to anyone. You might be surprised at what you find. Even if some of your goals are unrealistic, writing them down will still give you a chance at a better plan for making poker more enjoyable more often.

This is vs a fish;

Do you think my line is ok or should I be leading the river? I felt quite confident he had Ax when he min 3bet the turn and thought hewould VB the river and ruled out AK from his range given he's likely to 3bet that pre. If he has A6, oh well unlucky.

However, im unsure as if I should lead the river as I might be losing value for times he might check it back or do you think he's always going to be firing Ax for value on the river?

Also; if I 4bet the turn and want ot get stacks in, you think he "might" fold? Or If I lead the river; do you think he might just call as opposed to ship the rest in given how strong my line looks, I could never really be bluffing.

Not happy with the way I played this hand but not sure if it's ok either given our hand.

The problem I have, is the villian in question is a TAG and his UTG opening range consists of AJ+/TT+ at worse imo. It's zoom and stats arent exactly accurate, but from what I recall; it was like 16/14 or something..so not nitty but certainly not loose.

Should I be even shoving this river given the only "worse" hands that call are AJ/AQ and those might not even call..but like obviously he calls all sets/AK etc so I guess I don't even fold out hands we try and bluff out but then I think well; we have TPGK..but still I dont know :( I just coulden't really put him on a set though, I mean, id expect top set on that flop would likely just shove the flop.

I think I always seem to overplay when I have the nut flush Ace and seem to barrel/stack when villians are passive. I just feel I'm repping a strong range here; and of course have the nut flush blocker so they have to fold lol but then I just get owned.

Thoughts?

1) I'm fine with the line. X/Shoving river is better than leading IMO, unless you plan to open shove which is just weird. You obv looking to get stacks in here and with his turn raise you are almost guaranteed he will bet the river so checking instead of leading just maximizes value vs his range that can value bet but not GII. You say he is a fish but don't give stats, depending on how much of a drooler he is you could make a case for just open shoving river, but I prefer a turn shove if he is that bad. Almost every fish though is going to bet river here, even the most passive ones will still bet A2 here and by X/R'ing you help them feel like they have committed too much to fold. Overall I think you played it as good as possible.

2) Vs this player type I don't think the turn gives you any more FE, if you are going to make him fold any % of his calling range after you raise the flop you would have to size it larger IMO. I wouldn't recommend even betting turn TBH, I check back turn and go for small value OTR, probs like 2.80-3.20. Villain is pretty nitty so it's great to raise flop but I just don't see continuing to run a bluff vs this guy as profitable.

Ok thanks.

Yeah I agree I think I overplayed the AQ and when I actually thought about it, there's very little, to nothing I actually fold out. I think my main thought process was; ok I think he has some AKh/KK/QQ/JJ all with a heart in his range given his call on the flop + turn and I didn't want to check back the river and be annoyed if he turns over AK as I might get him to fold AK the only hand I'm behind too (apart from sets of course, although I didn't think he flopped a set) - or maybe he might tilt/call the QQ/JJ/KK on the river overbet.

Either way; still think it's a losing play vs this guy your right. Also; I agree, my turn sizing was to small to fold out anything.

You don't even need the reassurance Jake so dunno why you are asking. You got it in good, WP.

@Doom not going to talk about each hand but all of them carry a similar trend of passivity. Really seems like you are missing out on some value in a lot of those spots.

TBH, you need to stop doing that unless you have a very good reason - esp H4, you want to get value from PPs+Jx+FDs NOW. Hand 5 is almost a lock, but we can still get value from PPs that peel and FDs, not to mention the rare times we cooler their sets.

Thoughts?

Villian is a tight passive player. (zoom poker; meaning stats might not be 100%) Given, our UTG+1 opening range & his x/r line, (Of course he likely expects us to fire one cbet but the turn is obviously a good card for us to barrel given our positional open) I feel he's either drawing or has a weak Qx/Jx hand all of which surely can't take a river bet or do you actually think firing the river is probably bad?

Yeah agreed, the open is loose but zoom actually I think given how tight people generally are ( a lot tighter than a normal table) I like to mix in some high suited connectors because people love the fast fold marginal hands they would possibly call in a slower normal FR game.

Given our UTG+1 opening range though; there are plently of Ax in our range. What do you think is happy calling the river given our flop/turn/river barrel?

I just don't see many tight passive players with Qx/Jx happy calling in this spot, do you not think we fold out many Qx/Jx vs this player type?

Nothing major, just the only hand that made me think a bit tonight, line check please!

Villain is 26/16 over 71 hands, looks fairly pos aware so fair, RFI from CO is 50% (6) only 11% (9) from BTN though, so maybe not lol

I think the 3bet is fine, we have pos etc, although a call could be better??

OTF i'm not sure if I should be cbetting there or just give up now i'm called, as played should we be barreling the turn? Its either the best or worst card in the deck for us to be doing it on as it just sucks for him if he has 1 pair, but it is 2nl so meh, probs doesn't care how many pairs he has :)

I think A4 is fine, everything he floated with on the flop, Qx/pairs/flush draws aren't obviously folding a turn barrel.

need stats for hand 1 imo but i would just call the flop if youre going to flat the 3bet pre.

Hand 2 - I like it but I probably raise turn to get value from 99+.

Also, why not buy-in for $5? t

just for the microcrushers ;)

decided to flat because I think this is a spot regs are going to 3bet a ton as bluffs.

villain is on the aggro side and is a reg so i decided it was going to be better for me to flat the 3 bet and GII hopefully by the turn by letting him spew.

F3bet is 80%

Got the absolute sickest board ever which was nice :)

anyone like it? or is everyone going to say 4bet gii pre?

Given how you describe villain and the fact that we're IP, I like it a lot.
