^ think everything is good except the river. I think river is probably a fold unless you have a specific read that he's done this before. Tons of 9x and Ax in his range

I don't know what it was, weather it was the timing or maybe I was just tilting, but I just felt like in this instance villain was using the A as a scare card to blow me off my hand. I kinda thought that villain was waited to more 9x/air and thought a 9 probably doesn't donk out like that plus I guess I didn't expect an ace to take that line either. In reality I'm probably just a calling station in this hand since as you say they have plenty of Ax/9x in their range

woah are there cash home games? wouldn't mind joining if there are any more that run, assuming 2NL

Hey guys, I'm new around here and I searched for hand selection in cash games without finding much in topics about it, but I think this question may be appropriate for this thread. I recently downloaded poker stove to help me with hand selection preflop. I normally play at 9 handed tables.

I was a little shocked to see some of the hands that came up when I put in 13% which is about how tight I want to start playing overall. Obviously, it will depend on position as to what range I'm willing to open with, but at 13% I saw hands like K 9s, J 10s, Q Js, Q 10s that I don't feel confident opening and especially not from early position. Maybe I've been playing too much like a NIT in the past, but my normal opening range from early position has been pairs down to 8 8, A Qos+ and folding the other hands listed above. My goal is to develop a solid TAG style. Should I be opening these hands in EP? When should I? When shouldn't I? Should I stick with my previous opening range or loosen it up a little when in EP? I usually even fold K Q os from EP and really don't know what to do here with K Qs either. Can anyone suggest a good opening range from EP, MP, and LP in %? I understand that the suited connector hands are best played in multi-way pots against deep stacks, but in EP it's hard to know how many players will be along for the ride, leading me to believe it may just be best to fold. I'm getting back into the game after a long break and I'm trying to go back to the basics and play ABC poker while relearning and reviewing more complex concepts that I will gradually add back into my game. I will be playing $5 NL at Bovada and probably Zone poker (equivalent to Zoom or Rush) until I get Holdem Indicator at least. I think that if I'm not going to have any stats at all being tracked that zone poker may be best since it at least partially takes away someone's edge who is using the software. It also strikes me as the best game type for ABC poker to win. Thoughts?

I don't agree with some of the other people's suggestion here. My reason being that limping or folding these hands in EP and MP loses you the value of multiway pots that will win you BIG POTS at showdown as well as makes you look like a super nit, decreasing the value of your good hands. So, my suggestion is to do something that is a little obscure for two reasons.

When you have these mid range hands in MP and EP, raise them 2-2.5 BB. First, doing so will throw off any mining software your intelligent opponents use because it will make you look looser than you really are, increasing your TAG value. As well, it will induce reraises from premium hands giving you more information than limping and tightening the range of players behind you (making them call and raise less than normal). I'd also like to add that I'd put suited single gappers and suited connectors to this list (minimum low card 7 or higher).

Now, there are three additions to this strategy I must add. First off, you play your TAG range hands EXACTLY the same as you normally would. Secondly, be very cautious when playing these mid range hands, as to not over-value top pair (since you will be dominated many times). Thirdly, you have to maintain your aggression when flopping straight and flush draws. I've found this to be a pretty effective manner of giving a looser image to increase big hand value as well as winning you big pots when your draws come in against people who overplay pairs.

See how that works for you, and continue tracking. Hope this helps.

Because me an poketehs had been playing HU for quite a whole before this hand happened, HU is a different game altogether, my normal stats are like 24/17 or something

Yea i saw that only 3 of you were on the table but it was to late to edit the post :)

what would you say how hard is to switch from full ring to 6 max, what adjustments i need except to be little looser pre flop, i would say that post flop game is the same just with less chances to play in a multiway pot

and then i sit in, and have stats wider than everyone within 2 rotations lol.

btw, and i honestly mean this as constructive criticism- you guys all reaaaaaaaally need to work out how to adjust to your opponents. i got folds on 4/5 of my preflop 4bs (all were total air), and the one time i wasnt allowed to run over the table was hawkbaby flatting the 4b OOP and x/f the flop to my 40% PSB (i had 45o)

i know it was lol sample size, but yeah if you havent already, you should really try and learn what the different 4b frequencies represent. even at 10nl they start becomign relevant

Shorty who doesn't appear to be afraid when it comes to 3Betting light and squeezing. We cool with a X/J considering he can be light enough to B/F a lot of his range?

Even if he calls any pair we still can't be in that bad shape can we?

Two overs + GS isn't bad equity. If he does 3Bet light it is going to be with non-PP hands so we are only getting called by overpairs + his hands that connected. He isn't connecting that much here IMO, and even when he does we have enough equity to justify it because of our profit when he misses.

Slowplaying isn't all that cool I know but my Cbet sizing was designed to get him as committed as possible and then let him hang himself. I felt fairly sure he was capable of setmining with the fish cold calling but given the T high board I figured I could alter my Cbet so much so that he would raise for value against the fish's range. Give me feedbacks please.
