what would a 'concept of the week' be?...sounds quite interesting, im up for it.....

Could be anything really. I think having like 2-5NL players do more basic concepts like 'boards to c-bet, basic math concepts (SPR, implied odds), playing draws" and like more advanced micro players could discuss "reacting to 3-bets, extracting the most value" etc.

Could help encourage us to actually go and learn a topic we may have not considered implementing/researching and then using specific examples in the concept thread. Just a thought. Anyone in?

I have my own opinion of what to do on the river. Anyone think I should of played it differently.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.com

SB ($10.88)
Hero (BB) ($10)
UTG ($7.42)
MP ($4)
CO ($10)
Button ($8.84)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6
club.gif
, 4
club.gif

3 folds, Button calls $0.10, 1 fold, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.25) 3
club.gif
, 9
heart.gif
, 2
club.gif
(2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks

Turn: ($0.25) 9
spade.gif
(2 players)
Hero bets $0.15, Button calls $0.15

River: ($0.55) 5
diamond.gif
(2 players)
Hero bets $0.40, Button raises to $1.60, Hero raises to $9.75 (All-In), Button calls $6.99 (All-In)

Total pot: $17.73 | Rake: $0.80

Results below:
Button had 5
club.gif
, 5
heart.gif
(full house, fives over nines).
Hero had 6
club.gif
, 4
club.gif
(straight, six high).
Outcome: Button won $16.93

What do we do in these situations, where stack size is short relative to the stack. If we cbet $1 and villain shoves we have to call I think as we are getting 1:4, ~25% to make the call. Whereas if we bet $1 and the villain calls and checks the turn again we can see a free card and save $1 if we miss. However the downside of this is if the villain calls the flop then shoves the turn we have to fold as we are not getting the right odds with 1 card to come. So I am in a dilemma here about which is best play. Also we get maximum Fold equity % when we shove rather than cbet half pot imo.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.com

BB ($5.33)

Hero (Button) ($10)
SB ($15.09)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A

UTG bets $0.30, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.90, 2 folds, UTG calls $0.60

Flop: ($1.95) 9
spade.gif
, 3
spade.gif
, 4
diamond.gif
(2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2, UTG calls $1.98 (All-In)

Turn: ($5.91) J
club.gif
(2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($5.91) 5
heart.gif
(2 players, 1 all-in)

Total pot: $5.91 | Rake: $0.27

Results below:
Hero had A
spade.gif

heart.gif
(high card, Ace).
UTG had 9
heart.gif
, 7
heart.gif
(one pair, nines).
Outcome: UTG won $5.64

First hand is an easy flat and maybe close to a fold, but because he's Likely bad there's nothing wrong with the flat, you might as well be bluffing when you 3 bet jam the river as your only ever getting called by better.

In the 2nd hand, just 3 bet jam..

Btw, as I've previously said I have recorded a bunch of vids playing 5nl-25nl but am having f-all luck when it comes to uploading them, have tried linking them via YouTube etc but nothing's working, used camtasia 2 to do the vids, so if anyone's in the known and can help, then shoot me a pm, kinda sick as the vids covered a lot of interesting spots...

I'm only a newbie but here are my thoughts:

Hand 1

I would bet my draw on the flop. You have a gutshot straight/straight flush/baby flush draw. I would probably bet 70%.

Seeing the paired card on the turn I would check/call a small bet or check/fold to a big bet.

70% bet on river but would either call or fold to river raise depending on villains stats.

Hand 2

I wouldn't have bet so big on the flop. Surely the only hands that will call here are hands that have you beat? I would have made a cbet of around 60% here and folded to a raise.

As I said, I don't have much experience of HA so may be totally of the mark!

Nah honeycrush, everything you've said is ok bar bet/folding the AK..priced into the call, hence why 3 bet jamming pre is 10xbetter.
We can't make a standard 3 bet against a stack size like this. So either flat/jam pre.

Thanks for the feedback Messiah. :)

Can I just check - how would we play the hand if villain was deepstacked?

Deepstacked or 100bigs, assuming you mean 100bigs?!

Would be very much villain dependant, since we got no stats I can't say, but stats like high/low fold/3bet, agg, barrel frq, fold to c bet and the like would be the difference of me checking flop and bet/call if I bink the turn or turning my hand into a bluff and barreling 3 streets, not the best board for it but defo not the worst either..

Once the Pf raiser calls this big raise and with the board so horrible is it time to give up or should we always be c-betting 3bet pots?

Without stats, prob end of betting flop/turn and any good river that includes a q/spade. But checking back is just as good and continuing when we bink on latter streets/shutting down when we don't.

Edit: as regards pre, flatting/3 betting an unknown utg open is standard either way, prefer flatting as we hate life when we get 4 bet and don't know we're we stand.

Betting less than 1/3 pot accomplishes nothing as he doesn't fold better.
Just give up in a situation like this.

PM cafeman.. or Jurn.
If you don't get approved by YOUTUBE for a longer timelimit, the max for a video is less than 30min, i think maybe 15min. But you can edit them some how and make part 1 part 2 etc.

^^^ Congrats MM. thats so sick that you have buddies who are down to play cash. All of my buddies only want to play $5 SNGs :(

Help here pls. Not too sure what to do because villain donks a pretty bad board and we have no reads on the villain.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.com

UTG+1 ($1.40)
Villain (MP1) ($2.36)
MP2 ($1.40)
MP3 ($2.79)
Hero (CO) ($2)
Button ($2)
SB ($6.17)
BB ($4.37)
UTG ($1.61)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A
diamond.gif
, A
club.gif

2 folds, Villain bets $0.06, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.18, 2 folds, BB calls $0.16, Villain calls $0.12

Flop: ($0.55) 9
diamond.gif
, 8
spade.gif
, 7
spade.gif
(3 players)
BB checks, Villain bets $0.34, Hero ???

And this one...

Villain: 15/12/3.5 over 625 hands and 4% 3bet

Pretty sure this is aces or kings as I dont think he 4-bets with AK. I think turn is a fold because if we call we have to call his river jam.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (7 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://www.flopturnriver.com

Villain (MP2) ($5)
CO ($3.93)
Hero (Button) ($2.88)
SB ($3.16)
BB ($4.15)
UTG ($0.81)
MP1 ($1.05)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q
club.gif
, Q
diamond.gif

2 folds, Villain bets $0.08, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.24, 2 folds, Villain raises to $0.58, Hero calls $0.34

Flop: ($1.19) 9
heart.gif
, 5
club.gif
, 9
club.gif
(2 players)
Villain bets $0.68, Hero calls $0.68

Turn: ($2.55) 8

Hand 1, shove. Tons of pair+draw stuff will call.

Hand 2, why are you flatting a 4-bet? Shove or fold PF. If you think he's only 4-betting AA/KK why did you call?

Second hand Villain's 3 bet % is really low, therefore only A/A, K/K is gonna 4 bet you realistically. Fold pre.

Since a lot of you seem to be struggling with the whole 3/4betting game, here's my custom 3/4bet pop-up for HM2. Kinda retarded there isn't one included with it, and the default pop-up used for 3-bet is just not good enough. If you need help setting it up, just let me know.
