Not so sure, I find myself in similar situations alot. Late position tries to steal I 3Bet with Raggy Ace and flop an ace.

Apart from I would've CBET or occasionaly delay CBET as you get alot of callers when they hit their King, Queen or Jack

Dont they have a wide weak range, and when we hit our Ace surely you have to CBET even if 3 broadway AKT they could have alot of pairs and straight draws, i.e. KQ, KJ, TJ etc

Raise more pre. Why are you betting so small on the flop and checking the turn? I don't understand the c/c on the river either. Either bet or check/fold.

I raised 4.5x the min raise Pre and about 60% on Flop, what sizes do you recommend.

I know when limpers its normally *3 and add 1 for each limper, what sizes for min raises? Maybe *3 and double for each limper i.e. *6 initial raise so to 0.60c


I like the turn CR, but I think at these stakes once you're called there you should probably shut down on a blank river. Your range is definitely draw heavy and the river didn't help. There's no shame in making a play and then letting it go when it doesn't make sense to follow through. A for effort though.

Well first off I'm never folding on the flop here and it's too ambitious to raise so I'm calling.
without seeing his stats I can't range him properly but in my experience players will call in the bb here still fairly wide as they will have position. All pairs. Aces down to AT os and suited probably all.
So what hands raise the flop, obviously sets and 2pair but also a whole host of AT+ and flush draws. This is why we can't fold on the flop.
At the moment he has no idea how strong you are. A call from us tells him we have a decent A.
I would expect everything that we beat to check behind and take a free river card. I would expect strong value hands to keep betting the turn. So depending on how often he double barrels I might consider folding on the turn to a double barrel especially if a club arrives.
If the club's miss turn and river we might have to consider a call on the end again bearing in mind how aggressive he is and how often he goes to show down generally. If he's at all passive and betting big on the end we might have to find a fold. All aggressive types are probably getting a call from me if the club draw misses and they had checked the turn.

Misread the Rhom hand slightly but makes little difference still giving mp limp call a wide range pre but giving him a bit more strength on the flop when raising into two players . Still calling on the flop though.

Just played another one then thought MMMmmmmmm when PreFLopRaiser is min raised on the Flop. Do you go into Showdown, Rerasie to take initiative or call and see what they do on Turn.

(They could easy have a hand like 2pair, flush draw and semi bluffing)

Then if they bet turn 1/2 pot do you call again if flush card doesnt appear then on river ??? again no flush card do you call a bet

If someone is just min raising 2 people on this board, unless they are a complete tard, they will have 2 pair+ way too often. You don't have direct odds to try and make a better 2 pair. It might seem "weak", but the times you continue here and have to fold and/or they have a better hand will far out weight the times you're ahead.

But again, it's player dependent. I would continue here against some opponents, or fish that might over value their hands. It might seem exploitable as well, but believe me, it's not. It's just better to play smart poker. Think, how often does someone raise here into 2 people with AT+ versus the times they have 33/66 and two pairs. Keep in mind that he also limp called so those hands are squarely in his range PLUS you still have BB to worry about. I was actually thinking about taking control and reraising small and calling off a shove from an aggro or if I had seen him take abad beat and folding to a shove from a tight player.

I do get yours and Figs point even if it is a weak play to fold. I did actually spew and shoved but he had 333 . Hindsight think too weak to fold but call and fold to 2nd barrel unless I hit 2 pair.

PS I have this thing and Im sure we have all done it. Im just about to bet and I actually have a plan and say to myself bet X and if he Checkraises or Shoves I'm going to fold, but I hover the mouse ove rthe FOLD button then call instead. DO I need to make an appointment with a Doctor LOL

Had one of my worst ever sessions this evening. I won just two hands of more than 20bb in 1400 hands and ended up tilted
The hand that it did me was utg QQ v a fish in the blinds on a 3434 board and he shoved the turn
Not happy to say the least.
I will have a good look at this session tomorrow night. Something fundamentally wrong has happened to my game over the last few months. I need to pin it down so if anyone wants to hit me up on Skype tomorrow and help me they will be most welcome.

That is true, poker is a marathon not a sprint and im sure I'll get where i want to be with time and hard work. I feel the pressure a bit though because i have no other income at the moment.

This was an interesting series of hands. They're all against the same villain who was tight and pretty good as well. I expected clubs on the first hand but bigger clubs. I was surprised to see what he'd 4bet me with the first time around which is why I showed it no respect with the 10's. Not sure shoving is proper given his sizing but it was certainly simpler. The 10 10, AK and KK were all in one rotation if I remember correctly and the 10 9 was a few rotations earlier. I was also needling the guy a bit in the chat box in an attempt to get him to spazz out but I was unable to get a call on the end with the kings. He left after that hand.

I was actually thinking about taking control and reraising small and calling off a shove from an aggro or if I had seen him take abad beat and folding to a shove from a tight player.

I do get yours and Figs point even if it is a weak play to fold. I did actually spew and shoved but he had 333 . Hindsight think too weak to fold but call and fold to 2nd barrel unless I hit 2 pair.

PS I have this thing and Im sure we have all done it. Im just about to bet and I actually have a plan and say to myself bet X and if he Checkraises or Shoves I'm going to fold, but I hover the mouse ove rthe FOLD button then call instead. DO I need to make an appointment with a Doctor LOL

Yeah, but again, look at the logic of the hand. Especially the bolded part. Why would someone play passive with that range, and then suddenly become aggressive into 2 people?

Think, how often does someone raise here into 2 people with AT+ versus the times they have 33/66 and two pairs. Keep in mind that he also limp called so those hands are squarely in his range PLUS you still have BB to worry about. If a guy is limp calling with AT+, I highly doubt he's now min raising 2 people with it. It just doesn't equate.


As far as your doctor visit, I think we've all changed our minds in spots, but if you find a consistent pattern to what you're doing, like you're suddenly taking more passive lines instead of lines you know will be better, then that's an important question you need to ask yourself. Why am I not making the highest EV play? What am I afraid of?

That is true, poker is a marathon not a sprint and im sure I'll get where i want to be with time and hard work. I feel the pressure a bit though because i have no other income at the moment.

This was an interesting series of hands. They're all against the same villain who was tight and pretty good as well. I expected clubs on the first hand but bigger clubs. I was surprised to see what he'd 4bet me with the first time around which is why I showed it no respect with the 10's.

The first hand, if he's CRAI there on that turn, that's generally not a good player. Good and pretty easy call. His range will be so draw heavy there. Good call. KK hand you should have bet a little more on the turn to make the river shove call easier.

I may be giving him more credit than he deserved but he seemed like one of the better players at the table for sure. Hindsight is 20/20 right? As I was posting this I was thinking even if I'd just made it 31 instead of 25 it would have been better.

Also, I have an unrelated question for you John. What is your opinion on nootropics?
