Would you ever fold pocket kings preflop ?

Yes there are lot of situation in which you must muck your kk preflop. Because of the actual situation of the torunament. For sure you are with KK in 98% in advantage, but thats not all of the game. You must give your hand value. So if two or more players included in the hand, maybe your are only with 40% the favorit the other playes have 25% 15% and 20% overall you are not the favorit. Especially in bubble near times a lay down is more profitable. Also the situation is very clear in sattelites. If you on the first half of the prizepool it is not profitable to risk anyhand. So i laydown and enjoy to win the ticket, without to do something, in which you could lose chips.

Probably one of the most difficult lay downs to make... I don't think I could do it unless maybe super deep in a tournament where being careful can pay out a lot more. I'm not good with ICM or whatever it's called AT ALL lol.

Fold KK PRE FLOP no way. It is a pretty straight forward answer when you put in pre flop! It is not NEVER but pretty rare.

Of the 100,000 plus hands I've played on stars, I can't think of ever folding pocket kings preflop unless I was close the the bubble and at risk for my tournament life.. If I'm 3 bet on pocket kings pre-flop., I will shove most of the time if I have my opponent covered.. Great thread btw..

I dont think KK can be fold preflop. even post flop still hard to fold.

I remember throwing KK once at the start of a $ 11 tournament when there was a raise from an utg and a 3bet and a 4bet from middle position,and I was on the big blind. We had 50 big blinds and I made the fold and everything after me too, but I think there were AA, but even if there were AK, i could still lose this hand.

You could never get me to fold even pocket tens preflop in most situations.

If you gave me kings or queens in a cash game, I may even shove on an ace-high flop. Yes, I said ace-high flop.

I find myself asking the same question today. Doubled up quick in today’s tournament and sat patiently for KK to be handed to me after first break. Got 3 bet so I just shoved all in for my stack just to have A/7 and 6/6 call me. And of course a ace comes on the flop followed by a 6 on the River....was I supposed to fold preflop?

About the only time KK is a fold preflop

is when you have a safe stack near the bubble in a satellite . Even AA should be mucked in that situation facing an opponent with a stack that covers yours .

I have folded KK a few times preflop and was actually very proud of myself as I would have run into Aces. I have also run into aces countless times but sometimes if I get a 4 or 5-bet back at me I consider it. Of course, there are tournament situations as well but folding is an extreme situation and worth all the attention before doing so.
