Actually, Cardschat is already a casino forum, however it still seems that its main activity is related to poker.

This is a good question..i have asked myself too..
I have won more on slotmachines than in Poker (single wins, not alltime)..but i have also lost it all again :cautious:
So that`s when i started to hate the slots..while i still enjoy playing Poker.
If everything became slots, i would probably leave .

Cardschat is already halfway Casino Forum. I think I stay since there are some decent offers right now but without offers probably not.

Interesting to hear your perspective - it feels more like 80/20 to me.

I’d stay only if they keep the useful discussions and the current atmosphere. If it turns into a casino‑only forum and poker disappears, I’d leave but I’d regret it!

This is just a hypothetical situation...

Casino operations are much more profitable for companies than poker... Besides, poker fits well into this category (in my opinion).

So overall, this has much more to benefit us, as poker players, by shifting an existing flow from casino games in general to our main focus (or at least the main focus so far), which is poker!

Well ok to be fair its probably because there is a lot of traffic and activity in the casino section that i thought that.

What if one day CardsChat slowly shifted from mainly poker to mostly casino gambling?

Instead of tons of:
  • hand histories
  • bad beat stories
  • strategy debates
We started seeing more:
  • slots wins & RTP talk
  • blackjack strategy
  • sports bet slips
  • bonus hunting threads
  • general casino promos
Same members. Same community.
Just different games being discussed.

Do you think you’d still hang around?

Vote and explain why
I will stay but ignore the casino part after inital try completely.
Burning money for fun and feeding the house by playing games that have the house edge is not my thing.
Poker has variance which we can be accepted, but a fixed (non removeable by skill, only reduceable) house edge is not accetpable.
Same would apply to poker if the houses would apply more than 10%-15% rake for cash games and about 20%+(25% is considered as not worth playing) of buy in fees. These games are no longer beatable(even for top 10% of the player pool) no matter how big the skill edge is.
Discussing startegies that only reduce a house edge but never eliminate it is nothing but a waste of time.

Yes or 75/25, casino has just been introduced here, and few are participating on casino forum, you can tell by the number of casino freeroll participants everyweek

Good point @Goggelheimer.

That’s actually one of the big differences between poker and most casino games. In poker we’re playing against other players, so skill can overcome variance over time, while in most casino games the house edge is always there.

I can see why a lot of poker players wouldn’t be interested in discussing games where the best you can do is only reduce the edge.

That said, it’s interesting that some people would still stay around just for the community side of CardsChat even if they never touched the casino topics.

Appreciate the perspective 👍

You named it.
While I understand reasons why casinos and poker are connected, casino is just not the story I am interested in. I do not identify as a gambler. I see no fun in tossing the coin to win or loose (even if chances were equal, but we know they are not). I play poker - a strategic game, I can anlyse, improve, grind for years. This is what keeps me here. So yes, I stay but I am interested only in poker.

If CardsChat stopped hosting freerolls, I would definitely become less active, but overall I would still stay. I'm used to CardsChat, used to freerolls, and I don't think I'll ever leave :)

Perhaps then participants will receive, say, free spins for activity or something else. I think some kind of reward system will remain in any case, and if so, then there is probably no reason to leave.
Although I will probably throw a tantrum and demand the return of the freerolls ...

Interesting thought experiment.

Personally, I’d probably still hang around, but my level of engagement might change depending on how big the shift was. What makes CardsChat appealing to me is the strategy discussion and the idea that poker is a skill-based game where you can constantly improve your decision-making.

If the forum became mostly focused on casino games like slots or promos, the dynamic would be a bit different. Those games can still be fun to talk about—things like blackjack strategy or bonus hunting do involve some level of thinking—but they don’t offer the same depth of discussion as poker strategy, hand analysis, or tournament theory.

That said, the community itself is a big part of what keeps people around. If the same members were still there and the conversations were interesting, I’d probably still check in regularly. Forums are often more about the people than the specific topic.

Ideally though, I’d hope poker would always remain the core focus. It’s what makes CardsChat unique compared to the many general gambling communities out there. :D(y)

Interesting to see the mix of answers. Looks like a lot of poker purists would leave, but many would still stay because of the community. That really says a lot about what CardsChat has built over the years.

Topics only about casino, communication, and the casino privilege over poker are the stuff of fantasy in a parallel reality. Only a third of the players will remain, the gambling addicts who enjoy promotions and the adrenaline rush of playing at the casino.🎲

Of course, my main interest is poker. Gambling is more of a side hobby for me. But I definitely wouldn't give up CardsChat even if the community became focused exclusively on casino games.

Since I don't play casinos, I prefer poker. So, as before, I will continue to follow poker content mainly.
