It gradually destroys your nervous system, eats away at your self-confidence, and negatively affects your ability to relax. I think there's a scale.

If you can have a beer or two over a long live game session you should feel any effects, if you're drunk while playing you're putting yourself in a situation where your decision making skills are compromised while playing a mentally challenging competitive game.

I don't really drink that much anymore so it's easy for me to say but I don't really think there's a reason to be drunk while playing poker. The game is hard enough I don't think we need to make it any harder for ourselves.

I have never spent money under the influence of alcohol. I drink very rarely and very little, only when there is a serious reason to celebrate, such as a birthday, New Year, or Christmas. I can drink 2-3 glasses of wine, but not more.

I usually drink rum and coke when I'm playing. It can actually give you an advantage over some other players who will underestimate you as an opponent. That is of course dependent upon your having learned to function normally while drinking. It can be done if you have trained yourself to make your plays based on the cards and players, rather than emotion and hunches.

Sometimes.. When things are going well to celebrate with a brazilian chopp at tables or when they are not going well to relax and forget the tilt/bad run..!lol Poker really messes with our emotions at all times, need to be strong ou very happy to play regulary .. 🍀💥⭐

I generally don't drink alcohol when playing poker.
I did once experiment in a pub low buyin game and I found that two pints of beer was enough to start to affect my judgement, which is about the same as the drink-drive limit.

Of course, like most of us, I lost money playing drunk. I think no one is immune from this. But my experience allowed me to draw conclusions and I don't play drunk anymore

used to go to the casino every friday for a whole and it was a very relaxed and loose game.
i was inexperienced live so i use to get a couple of drinks which were fine.

then a few more and my decision making was impaired
