That's a very good question, I would say that in 9 years of playing maybe $28,000 or so, you lose and you win, I think it's going well for me.

I've been playing poker for over 56 years, I can't say, what I can report that, I won much more than I lost, the amount was insignificant of the amounts I needed to enter tournaments

To be honest, zero. I started my bank roll with freerolls and I'm very disciplined about its management. The few deposits I made was to be alowed to made withdraws later.

I lost a lot of money playing slots. But poker has been bringing me profit for a long time. I lost money only for a few months, namely when I started playing. I've been playing since about 2018, and in these 6 years I haven't spent more than $300.

I lost maybe 100 dollars and won more than 5 thousand. It was a good investment, if you don't take into account how long it took.

I’ve played for 20 years. These days $2/5 on PokerStars. With a default bankroll of 100 buy-ins, $50.00. Play LAG with a high volatility.
My wife and I are the only ones who know the bottom line. Like to keep it that way. But it is a good question though. Do I believe people who broadcast their winnings? Neither. I don’t care. Might sound cynical. So be it. Do I believe people who reveal their losses. Mostly yes. Here, I do care if I like the players.
PS! In my country - Denmark - we pay up to 50% in income taxes. Pokerwinnings however are completely tax free.

Losing must have already amounted to around 3k, but I won this amount, so I don't consider it a loss,

Hi :)
Honestly, I probably haven't spent more than $100, even though I've been playing poker for over 7 years. In general, my income from the game is about $1000 a year and my game is quite safe because I play only with the money I win in freerolls.

For me, I think that losing is part of the fun and gives a special taste to winning.

$120-$150 is what I spent in the first 12 months of the game. Definitely not more. But I've been playing poker for almost 8 years now, and I've probably made a hundred times more profit than I spent :)

Break even.

I’m down online - up in person.

Overall works out to a break even amount

In the first year of playing, I spent about $200. Then I played with the money I managed to win in freerolls. Now I already receive a stable income from the game. And my income is much higher than the expenses I had.

I put $20 into Absolute poker and lost it all. Joined Doyle's Room, before it became Americas Card Room, had much better luck. Was up Fifty dollars. Took a hiatus from poker. Then lost my BR @ Americas cardroom. Net, I'm down $70, am trying to build BR through freerolls and promos.

Loved DoylesRoom. They switched to a few different networks back before ACR (Yatahay). I like Doyles best when they were on the microgaming network.... and I forgot all about the profits I made in my beginning days of online poker while playing on that site (& over 20 others).

There were so many good promotions pre 2010 that if a person studied a bit it was pretty easy to be a profiting player (and if you were a Promo hunter).

These days it is much more difficult to profit from online poker. I personally play cash tables but still play at micro/low stakes (25nl, 10nl at times if I'm tired). I'm able to slowly grind up a profit but it's not enough to pay for the groceries. I believe to make money today in online poker you really need to be playing MTTs and you need to be able to put in a lot of volume (along with a lot of studying). This is my current goal but life has had other plans as my physical health is terrible these days & this is while care-taking my partner full-time as well (she's in much worse health than myself). ie. today I had plans for MTT play but then it quickly became a choice of getting taken to the Emerg. at the Hospital or laying down in hopes that the feelings would pass. Did manage to get a few hands in on the cash tables in the afternoon but I'm not playing my A-game by any means... just not able to focus & concentrate.

TLDR - I make a tiny amount online. fwiw, I don't play Slots of any other casino games. Just poker.
It is possible to earn a profit today - but it takes more work than in the past.

Luckily I only play freerolls and that's how I get into real tournaments. So I can proudly say that I haven't lost a cent.:D

This question has no benefit or knowledge for players who study and improve their evolution every day... I believe that bettors know the answer, but for those who really play and have skill and knowledge, they know that the important thing is to know how to handle the variation and be profitable in the long term... playing within your limits.

I`ve calculated, my 20 years experience is positive - 30$ monthly. After PS freeroll restrictions amount is little bit smaller.

Since Sept 13, 2006 I have won $187 (Canadian), in 3000+ hours. This includes live home games, live casino games, and online (PokerStars). Most of my winnings are in live home games. casinos are tough - the rake and dealer tips (I am generous - $1700) are costly. If not for them I would be well ahead.
Poker is a small hobby.

I keep the credit card in my wallet. Only have small BR from freerolls, and the cardschat tourneys that were hosted by ACR. Those tourney's had hard competition, Lits of grinders, the same member names were on the top of leaders. What I make in tourneys I'll usually go to cash games. Probably lost $180 over last few years.
