Cash games vs Tournaments

I think there is more strategy in cash, even NL2. I tried to play cash a while ago but I didn't like it. Now I've started playing cash again and I think it can help the game in tournaments.
I will try to play in nl2 then nl5 and so on.

What are some of the key differences you may have noticed between Cash Games and Tournaments?

I think that cash games are more difficult. I generally prefer tournaments. Cash games have always been difficult for me and mostly brought me only losses. I think cash games require much more skill, experience and most importantly discipline.

Cash games are more dynamic and require more skills... in cash, you immediately see that you are playing for money, and in a tournament, you buy yourself a certain number of chips for buy-in, and it is psychologically easier to play in tournaments))

That's a whole different strategy again is bounty tournament.

Personally, I don't like cash games because you are up against players with unlimited resources. I would imagine for many players, that is exactly why they do like playing cash games.

I like to play knowing once you've broken an opponent, they're out.

What are some of the key differences you may have noticed between Cash Games and Tournaments?

I've noticed that in cash games at PokerStars, I'm a minus player and at GGPoker I'm a plus player. But I'll be honest, I like tournaments much better! What's the difference between tournaments and cash games? In cash games there is no strategy and more importance is playing psychology. In an early-stage tournament there is no pressure like in cash games, and at the same time there is a possibility to win much more money than in cash games (at least considering my limits).

Since my favourite tournaments are freerolls, I don't like cash games. I like freerolls because I don't like to risk my own money. Even if I win something in freerolls, I will only spend this money on buy-ins in tournaments, but definitely not on cash games.

Cash games focus on one current hand, a tournament is a small strategy and one hand plays a large but not the most important role. That's why I prefer tournaments, although I don't always have time to play them.

There will never be as many weak players in cash as in MTT. When a person wants to play poker on a day off with a beer, he will never open a cash table, it will always be MTT (rarely some spins)

What are some of the key differences you may have noticed between Cash Games and Tournaments?

Good question, answered by experience and little analysis.In cash, you don't necessarily choose what you need to follow some rules to protect or increase your bankroll. You start small and often forget where you started from and what you really want and...you find yourself in the situation where you play ten times your buy-in with hope and unconsciousness.
In tournaments, the only thing you spend is the buy-in and everything you achieve with it goes to your bankroll, while in the cash game we should impose a profitable scale and start again from that small entry.

In tournaments the game is more careful than in cash games because the tournament life is at stake, while in cash games you just buy in and continue playing.

Because of the study I have carried out over the years on ICM and statistics depending on the level of the tournament, I would choose MTT more easily, but I could play both variants without problem

I have personally noticed how much my tournament play and strategy has improved. I play my position well, I know when I need to increase my chips before I’m in no place u want to be In a tournament, shove territory.. my gauge for being comfortable with my stack no matter where I’m at in the tourney is if I measure my chips to the leader and I would double 3 hands in a row off of him. If after the 3rd double up I’m ahead then I’m good with my chips.. example 100,000 vs 1,000,000 after 3 double ups is 800’000 for me and 300,000 for him. So it looks as though your way behind but really you’re still very much in the hunt..

I think the biggest difference, initially, is in tournaments all players start with the same amount of chips whereas in cash games when you join an ongoing table you may have $300 while another player or players could have significantly more...putting the lower stacks at a slight disadvantage...usually this is only overcome with a few significant wins... as well in cash games "all-ins" are much less frequent while in tournaments they occur from the first hand on..

I don't play cash games. According to my statistics, they are unprofitable for me. I focus entirely on tournaments. I think cash games are more difficult.

I prefer tournaments; you have a fixed cost, the entry, or re-buy if you run badly at first. Cash games, the blinds are constant, the strategy is different; a lot more pressure not to lose, because it's real money.

Only tournaments. Cash games are definitely not for me, they only brought me losses and disappointment. Maybe I don't understand something, or my psychological type is better suited to playing tournaments, but as for cash games, they literally had a bad effect on my health, only nerves and anger is all I got from them.
