Hello:)
Yes, why not? I think that poker can be classified as a sport. In fact, I think it is better to add it to the sports games, because a good player will be better, more patient, focused, and psychologically stable if he practices sports, and this will be one of the reasons that will make him achieve good results.

Poker is already considered a mind sport, there are already studies and evidence about it, I don't know much about the subject but just search on Google

Could poker ever be introduced as a sport like chess or table tennis?
At the moment in Ukraine there is already a sport called sports poker, but how do they treat poker in your country?

If you sit and play, there's no physical activities- that can be considered as sport in bilion years...

BUT, if you doesn't have any kind of physical activities and you desperately want to have one - yes, poker can be sport... 😉
Chess is also a game people just sit and play, but it is an official sport.

In fact, it already is in many countries. And well, to be good at this, you need strong mental resilience.

Poker is already considered a mind sport by many, similar to chess or bridge. It’s recognized by the International Mind Sports Association and has professional circuits, rankings, and televised events like the world series of poker (wsop). While it doesn't involve physical exertion like traditional sports, poker requires intense mental discipline, strategy, emotional control, and stamina — traits valued in many competitive sports. Its recognition as a physical sport is unlikely, but as a competitive intellectual discipline, it's already well established. Would you like examples of other games that are considered mind sports?

If I could decide this situation, I would immediately accept that poker becomes a sport, it is: strategy, science, patience, competition, etc., so, certainly having these branches it could become a sport.

Poker is considered a mental sport, just like chess. The problem is that many countries still do not have their own laws to regulate poker and prevent it from being considered a game of chance by the collective imagination. First of all, the prejudice against poker must be overcome, because for those who do not know it and believe it is a game of chance, the rejection of poker is partly due to people who are not familiar with this card game, which is in fact a mental sport.

I doubt it. Skill is absolutely necessary to win consistently, but the luck factor waters down the competitive juices that professional and amateur athletes have. You can have swagger if you can swim like Michael Phelps, golf like Tiger, play tennis like Roger, football like Tom Brady and play baseball like Judge and Shohei...their careers did not depend on winning coin flips.

Poker has been officially recognized as a mental sport by the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA). This recognition places poker alongside established mental sports like chess and bridge, highlighting its focus on strategy, mental skill, and decision-making.

I don't think so. Poker’s still seen more as gambling than a proper sport and the lack of physical action doesn’t help. Even though it takes skill, it’s hard for people to see it the same way as chess or table tennis.
