Beer, cigarettes and Poker go very well together, in moderation !

(Too bad I don't moderate well, lol)

I also highly recommend a nice (legal) doobie every hour or two.

Cheers !

Hi there Uncloggie,

How are ya? :)

Just a quick question that might sound stupid at first, but I'm very interested in your answer...

Why would you be happy to recommend a legal doobie, but not an illegal one?

What is the difference to you?

Because I wouldn't recommend you to break the law, of course!

well....

heres my opinion and it differs for all. I usually do better live with like a jack and coke to calm my nerves but never more than one. online on the other hand i prefer to be completely sober as i find i do way better that way. so guess it really depends on the person

Ok, so I understand that thought process, but why?

Isn't it the same thing whether it is legal or not..?

How can two laws, saying opposite things, both be right?

If a law is wrong, should it be obeyed?

If it was the law to stamp on kittens, would you be strapping on your steel toe-capped boots?

If you think it is good and not harming anyone, why give a monkey's about a stupid law?

I'm not saying 'if you like murdering people, it's fine, laws are stupid' but smoking cannabis isn't exactly murder, is it?

Just to be crystal clear, I'm interested in your opinion and not launching an attack here...

Well, let's go:
1. I do not drink alcohol when gambling.
2. I think that consuming alcohol to uninhibited Poker is dangerous. Caution is essential in poker. However, it depends on the amount and relationship with each drink.
3. Coffee. Very coffee!

Indeed, alcohol isn't necessarily bad I remember sometimes I gamed better in another game then without alcohol lol, and ****ed up a lot in poker without alcohol too...
Coffee hlped me to stop drinking alcohol so that's a good thing, alltho it's a bit drugs too it's a lot more healthy and gives you a fresh mind! I don't like the effect of alcohol on my mind anymore, I'd only drink on a special event like in a restaurant or so or a special party. For a long time i needed mostly 1-2 beers a day, but that's obviously not a good habit.

Yes, I agree with you basically, and maybe you are not seeing the humor implied.

I would never recommend that anyone break the law. Period. Doesn't mean that I perhaps wouldn't.

In the case that you can only obtain or consume an illegal doobie, I am fine with it 100%, but would never recommend it "for the record". But I would recommend you listen to Bob Marley while enjoying it.

I think my lawyer would be OK with that.

On the "sober" side, don't forget we are living in a time where anything you ever said online can come back to haunt you, even years later!

Very wise, if not cautious, words..

Do not fear, I see many spectrums of humour, and yours certainly was not unnoticed!

I fear that mine might've been though! :p

My opinion is if a law is wrong, it should be changed.

Which is what we are now gradually starting to see..

States in America, Canada... Portugal legalised everything and have been recording encouraging (unsurprising) levels of decline in welfare problems regarding drug addiction.. Holland has never had any societal problems with cannabis, it's always been legal there, ever since I've known what weed is at least...

I'm pretty sure as it becomes medically and recreationally legal across the USA & Canada, the UK will eventually follow suit.. Hopefully within the next five years...

I spoke to someone who believes Brexit is largely based upon the upcoming legalisation and the UK government not wanting to share tax profits of the new revenue with the EU... How accurate that may be is another matter of course...

As for me... I would recommend that if a law is wrong or infringes on your civil liberties, campaign for it to be changed...

If the lawmakers refused to change a misguided law, I'd certainly ignore it...

You've got me contemplating whether I would recommend others to do the same...

It seems my head and my heart disagree!

I am a very happy Canadian, still amazed that I lived to see legal Cannabis.
The change is amazing, and surprisingly subtle. It also suddenly became pretty well socially acceptable all around.

The elderly are benefiting a lot as well, and many are getting off of problematic pharmaceutical prescriptions.

I know Bob Marley would be proud of us.

I hope the rest of the world catches up.

I believe Justin Trudeau will be noted in the history books as a great man for accomplishing this.

Big Pharma is the main obstacle between where we are now, and weed legalisation worldwide.

I agree with and believe everything you've said!

Hoping to wake up with three little birds on my doorstep, everyday...

Last post of the night- gotta turn in, sweet dreams!

Generally speaking, to make each session as profitable as possible, you should sit down at the table in a sober mind and be fully focused on the game.

Solution? Learn to control yourself (or be prepared to lose).

Playing poker under the influence of alcohol is probably one of the most important factors that lead to losing money in online poker.

No one will follow you and keep you away from the computer when you come home drunk, so just be prepared to lose what was given to you the hard way. Of course, there are times when you win a bit of money under the influence of alcohol, but in most cases, sessions in a drunken state end up trashing and reducing your bankroll.

I usually will have a Jack and coke, or a beer, bud lite, Amstel lite, or Stella. If a session is almost ending is when I will do so. No need in drinking too much clouding my decision making.

This was an answer to Tracid who posed a question. Tried to quote it but it didn’t include from my iphone.

There is no reason to do that.
Only effect will be a higher bluffing frequency.

I think a glass of good red wine can't hurt. I don't think it would change my style of play. Although, if I think about it, there are quite larg glasses.:))

alcohol (and also weed, even in combination) i did use to play poker.

It makes me an agressive player, but it influence my play at a negative way.

The best i play when i am sober.

Alcochol and poker , thank you , I won't take . When I have actually done this and it did have effect on me , like 3-4 times in the past , I might have behaved like an idiot (once) at the table , or start playing very loose (everytime) , have some successes in the beginning playing fearless poker , maybe have a deep run thinking that wine helps playing a more donk poker that helps vs other extremelly loose or donk players or helps you play less tight game , then make a completely out of logic loose call (thinking that the other one is bluffing or whatever) and lose everything . So poker and alcohol , not a good combination .

Btw , it's very hard for alcochol to have any effect on almost always , moreover I have some lung/stomach problems if I drink whiskey, vodka , another wine besides the two I taste etc , sometimes even headaches . Really sick , try not to drink at all . Rarely 2-4 beers or one-two glasses of 2 specific wines with low % alcohol that don't hurt me (also seldom they have effect/intoxication , but they taste awesome ) , one of them they use in the holy communion in greek churches and I like it since I was a kid .
