I only play for fun now. I use to grind poker like a job and I found it took the joy out of the game. Started getting burned out and wasn’t winning enough. So much better when I play for fun.

I play to be disciplined in becoming a better player. I refuse to pay to play, I've had my bankroll to a manageable micro status just off of freerolls alone, but I have to admit that making the transition from micro to low stakes is incredibly challenging.

I've started and stopped poker many times in my life. Re-finding the joy for different reasons. I must say that I do enjoy the emotional ups and downs. I mean, the downs not so much lol. But damn the rush of adrenaline when you get a successful bluff through lol. When the game becomes too robotic and "job" like, I think that's when I lose interest. I tried doing it "professionally" as a small-time streamer and it stressed me out 'needing' to win. It's very odd, but I wouldn't mind playing poker full time if I didn't need to win. For me, it's similar to photography. I like doing it, but if I'm forced to do my hobby as a job, it kind of sucks the joy out of it.

I've been playing free poker for almost 5 years, and only later I found out that it is almost legal in my country and tournaments where held, and online poker tournaments are also regulated and held. Ever since then I started to play for money but lost the fun along the way. So, now I am learning through courses and brushing up my skills not to win money, but motivated by the joy of winning a wsop bracelet or ring, or winning major tournaments, irrespective of the prize pool, I will still enjoy poker.

I always loved playing poker because of the mental aspect, it lets me work my mind and relax in a way after a long day in the lab. In some way its a weird escape from the rest of the world because of how much you have to focus only on the table you're playing. The money you get is just a nice bonus
