The first thing I do is actually close the client. When you're riding a high, it’s incredibly tempting to jump into a higher stake game because you feel invincible

I don't hide my happy feelings. I have a special way of celebrating my poker successes. I lift my right hand up, raising my index finger toward the sky. This is how I thank the spirits for their help. :sneaky:

As now I play only for small stakes and very small stakes, including freerolls, that situation never arises.

When you hit a big score or win a tournament, do you celebrate somehow or just move on to the next game?
Moving on is the only sensible thing to be done!

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had a win big enough to really celebrate. When I have good sessions, I don’t celebrate them; of course I feel happy after the session, but I just keep grinding regardless of how it goes.

If it were a very big win, then I’d probably think about celebrating it, maybe with my family or with a good meal 🙂

I give appreciative glances, sometimes I slap the air or give a big clap.
But there were times when I jumped up and celebrated so.

I've had a few bigger wins, but I didn't celebrate them, at most I surprised myself with some delicious cake. :)

I celebrate by going out for garlic-style pizza, hamburgers, and french fries. Or simply going to the movies with my wife.

If it’s really a big win, I’ll definitely go out to celebrate—like at a restaurant or doing something fun. If it’s just a good win, I usually just keep playing.

I've never had a really big win. My biggest win was in a freeroll.

I just started playing MTT again yesterday so I'm hoping I get a big win sometime this year & if I do, I'll keep on doing what I'm already doing.

First things first — 'big win' means something different to everyone. And I think that's actually an important point.
My biggest score was $3,500 finishing 12th in a $220 tournament. And the sweetest part? I satellited in again — so my real investment was almost nothing. That night I didn't sleep until morning. Called my friends, celebrated properly, felt like I'd won the wsop Main Event. 😄
But that kind of feeling has happened exactly once in five years of playing poker.
The smaller wins — finishing first in a $3.30 or $5.50 tournament, cashing around $220-260 with bounties — those happen more regularly. And honestly? No fireworks. No celebration. Just a quiet satisfaction, maybe a smile, and then closing the laptop.
I think that's actually healthy. If you went crazy celebrating every small win you'd be exhausted. And if you felt nothing after a $3,500 score you'd need to check your pulse.
The real celebration isn't the money anyway. It's the moment you realize the satellite grind, the patience, the correct decisions — they all paid off at once.
That feeling is worth staying up until morning for.😄

I have bankroll system so when I win and adjust my numbers I’ll take a little bit and buy myself something I wouldn’t normally do and then buy my favourite rum.

I haven’t won anything emotionally significant yet.
But I wouldn’t touch the money I’ve won right away.
I would integrate it into my bankroll.
The celebration would come later, with planned withdrawals.
I’d share it with friends or family.
I’d post it on social media or poker forums.
I’d save a screenshot of the result.
I wouldn’t spend impulsively.
I wouldn’t move up in stakes too quickly.
I wouldn’t assume I’ve already made it.
I wouldn’t change my strategy based on a single result.
