How much do you invest in poker?

I invest nothing, in terms of money. I play freerolls and work up a bankroll from nothing. On one site I've worked it up into the low 4-figures. Not bad eh?!

What I *DO* invest is my time. I spent up to 16 hours playing poker some days. Most days.

For me, as a retiree, time is essentially free. And I'm not playing to try and become a millionaire, money is not my motivation. I play poker for the challenge, and for the love of the game. Poker is the greatest thinking game I've ever found.

I don't invest money in poker. I consider myself a Tournament player, so I build my starting capital from freerolls.
If I were a cash game player, it would be reasonable for me to deposit a small amount into a poker room.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, never have and never will, I play for the pure enjoyment of the game, and it is never about the money, that is why I can play without worrying about how much I am winning or losing because the money is just a bonus for playing well.

I have never made a deposit and can play every day if I want to, even Live games are free now because I won more games than I lost and my bankroll is safe and secure for when I restart playing live after these lock-downs are finally over.

I learned how to play poker on-line by playing, play-money games, and I always treated them as if it was real money, Pokerstars had a system in the early days of staking you 2,000 in play money chips, and if you lost the lot you could re-stack for free.
I never re-stacked and built up a bankroll of over 650,000 in play money, all the time playing in many free-roll tournaments, building up a small amount in real cash, and I think I had around $50 in real cash when I first started to buy into .25 cent games.

I have done the same on other sites and and built up to $150 on three other sites before I got sick of their changes and cashed out on 2 of them, one first stopped their free-roll games because they had a limited player list and they transferred my money onto their Sports betting site, so cashed out, the second site stopped playing their free-roll point games and I cashed out with them.
The third site went bust and I thought I had lost the $150 for good until Pokerstars came to the rescue and credited my Stars account with the money, so never really lost there.

My bankroll now on Pokerstars is over $465.00+, and I regularly buy-in to SnGs games just for the pleasure the game gives me, I will never get rich from Poker, and I don't want cash riches, I am rich enough in other ways, Play for the love of the game, Play for pure pleasure the games give me and always remember---
