A big factor to consider is how big your typical spending is in a month and how much it varies from month to month. If you live alone and live very cheaply that would be a big difference than if you had a family to support.

I don't think there is an amount that satisfies everyone.Everything is relative.Today $ 100 is enough and tomorrow $ 1000 is not enough.Poker can't be a job.Poker is an entertainment that sometimes makes money. You can quit your job if you win a very large sum and live on interest. How can you plan your winnings in advance?

Well most people say around 1k (euros) might be enough and somehow I agree, but there are also other factors to take into consideration. First of all, winnings in poker are never guaranteed, so there's no way u can rely on that (unless you already have 5-6 digit sums in your poker winnings, and even then I don't recommend it), but the real question here is: why would u want to quit your job? If you don't like it, try to make a change in your professional life and find something that u are enthusiast about. Poker can be great, but it's not everything in life (neither professional, nor personal) and shouldn't be. I know it's hard if u invested many years, maybe even decades in your career, but change and potential fulfilment beat regret from miles away. In my opinion I think it's wiser to choose the change :) Maybe u can quit your job when u are close to retirement, but being old(er) comes with all sorts of problems....
All the best and good luck.

you don't have to talk about poker. if we talk about the exchange of one thing for another - the new thing should be no worse than the old one. poker income must not be lower than income from work

I think realistically. If you have saved 2 years worth of Salary and money to cover all your monthly expenses then I think you are good to go.

The swings and dry periods can be long.

...the gambler in me says, if that's your dream...Make it work.

In Belarus, the average salary is $ 250-300. So make a conclusion. I don't think about quitting my job, I will strive to win at poker and increase my budget. Yes, the gods will hear.

I'd need 10 million, and I'd have to keep playing low stakes so I don't blow it all lol

In my opinion, to make a decision like this, you need to at least exceed your salary for 5 months.

With that you will see that you have really achieved the desired results in the long run.
