I believe that 1500-3000 dollars would be plenty to allow me to devote my complete attention to poker.
This is my long-term objective, and I am confident that I will be able to attain it in the near future.

The only thing that makes me nervous are those damned unpredictable mtt game downswings.

I think a great question is how much would you have to earn to be able to focus completely on poker. Surely we expect that after we give our full attention to poker, our win rate will increase? If we are going to make it our profession, surely we will get some coaching and spend some time studying. I feel like if I can win $100 a day in average, playing for less than 8 hours, then I would certainly switch to full time poker. The annoying thing is I think I can win $200 a day or more, but then will lose it. Mainly playing when tired and tilt. I accept that is equally a part of my game as is running up my $100 deposit to $300-$400 consistently. That makes me a losing player, until I overcome that one flaw.

To answer you question more directly, if I almost always won $100-$200 a day, that would more than enough to start playing poker professionally. I think I could do that playing $50 worth of tournaments with buy in ins between $5 and $20, and 4 tabling 10/25c cash games.

I imagine I would win $400 or more 10% of the time, and due to the low stakes I think I less than 10% of the time I would lose $200, which would be no wins in tournaments and lose 6 buy ins for $25NL. Is a bad day (without tilt) much worse than this? I find it hard to imagine losing 10 buy ins in $25Nl in a day without being on tilt.

I left work long ago. I do housework and housekeeping. But sometimes I am scared that my husband will die before me. Now he makes money. I still cannot achieve stability in poker. A stable $ 1000 per month would suit me.
It is achievable in online poker. If you're still around then read my earlier posts. I was very explicit in how I achieved an average of $500 to $2,000 a week, more often $500 than $2,000 but I have gotten there on exceptionally good weeks, playing online poker. I play average of two to six hours a day, five days a week. Granted, some weeks I make nothing and may even lose some, but they are rarer than the weeks I make a profit.

To begin with, it should be at least 700-800 dollars per month. But for a comfortable life, 1200-1500 dollars would be enough for me.

The question is which country to live in. The required amount will depend on this.

If I won 1500 usd a month, I could live well above my means in my hometown without having a regular job.

I'd need at least 5k. Lots of factors too, where are you playing, rake back ???

I think that for a start, $800-1000 per month will be enough for me not to work. This is more than twice the average salary in my country.
