No matter what your addiction might be, Drink, Drug's, or Gambling on anything, If it was causing a problem between your Spouse and yourself then you need to ask yourself what is more important, Your relationship, or your addiction.
With my personal addiction it was gambling on the Horses, and yes some week's I was borrowing money from friend's to try and win my losses back, but that was before I got involved with my wife, and she understood I had a passion for gambling.
She never asked me to quit, it was my decision, because I knew it could have caused problem's in the future, and didn't want to risk our relationship, I still have a flutter now and again but leave it for a day out when it is part of the day's event. It does not mean I cannot have my fun, just that I have moderated my gambling and are in full control of it.
Thankfully On-line Poker fills that gap in between and I am still in full control, I have never made a deposit on any site, and still play for money, because I am a patient man who can wait for good things to happen, like winning small amounts in Free-rolls and building from them. It is easy when you are patient and work hard at your game.
Just ask yourself one simple question, "If you cannot win a Free-roll, What makes you think you can win a $1,000 Dollar buy-in?"
Moderation is the key! I have tried all manner of thing's, Drinks, Drugs, and Gambling but to stay in control, you have to moderate everything in Life.
There is an old saying "Too much of a good thing is bad for you" I follow that rule in everything I do. Or as I like to say--
When the fun Stops, STOP!
