I find play chips allow me to one pratice some strats better but also allow me to go for some wild plays that i can never really do with real money. I.e it allows me to get the stupid gambles out the way so that I'm not bringing that mentality into real money.

I like to to play both real money and play money.
Trying to improve my Omaha game. Play money is great for learning to play a variant of poker you don't already know.

Play money is a great way to learn how to use the site. Once you get comfortable, play for something. No strategy at play money tables.

the big difference between playing with play money and playing with real money is that many players go all out with any cards and in any position at the tables real money players are more serious and selective when playing poker :D

I only play real money games. I don't know the purpose of playing play money games.

real money

Strictly real money, earlier days when I didn't really know what I was doing may have played with play money, but that was a long time ago. Just don't see the purpose now.

It's discouraging to see how many people are solely interested in the money and not the game itself. :/

I have the same situation. A couple of months ago, I was playing play money at full strength. Now that I've played 100k hands of real money, I can't take play money seriously anymore.

Playing with play money is less stressful, less serious and therefore you can lose concentration and play much looser.
A way to get more serious with play money: set a goal to reach with the Play money bankroll. For example: "I want to have X mil in 2 days time". This will give you a goal and you will try harder

Playing with real money is difficult and requires effort and strategy. Playing without money is for entertainment, laughter and spending quality time with friends.

One of the things I like to practice with play money as it plays very close to real money is the top level of Kick Off formerly known as Grand Tour.

I don't see the point in playing for conditional money. There are many freerolls where every beginner can gain the necessary experience, improve skills and even increase bankroll without risking their own money.

I started playing 4 years ago and I immediately started playing for real money. Given the large number of freerolls, I think everyone, even a beginner can immediately play for real money and thus gain valuable experience and improve skills.

For those who want to learn to play poker it's better to start with fake money, after learning the rules and how to play, you have to start with real money, so that your game can evolve, although in the micros players don't take much to for real.

Not really, it's like they say, "the money is just a way of keeping score." You are not going to see the; 'I only care about the money" attitude among high stakes players, because knowledge of the game is how you win money consistently.
