I mostly listen to music, smoke during the break) I don't drink alcohol at all, I eat it before the session

Good afternoon everyone, poker and drinking.
Whenever you ask a question about poker, the word "it depends" will almost always appear in the answer.
Depending on your relationship with poker, if you treat poker like a job, drinking and playing poker is not recommended, as drinking will alter your perception of the game and could even lead you to make bad decisions or act impulsively.
Now, if you have poker as a hobby and play for fun, in that case, I don't see a problem.
Now, a professional poker player doesn't drink while playing and focuses all his attention on the tables, not even engaging in any other activity other than poker, not watching videos while playing, etc.

I usually play poker as focused as possible, except in freerolls where I end up playing with less focus, because 100% of the time I have other tournaments running simultaneously.

I think I'm on Iryna's team; I don't have any...

But during some breaks, I fit in a snack or something... because it's not at all comfortable playing poker when hungry. In that case, I sometimes make an exception and play with a bowl of mixed nuts and a tea or juice.

This is my mindset both in live and online games.
During live games, I even try to keep the conversations to a minimum...

I have played while drinking, a lot. Sometimes you feel like in the zone, but the next thing you know, you're busted, you're playing out of bankroll, you're trying to recuperate the lost money. Not a good combination poker + alcohol.

Weed is a little better though, but not better than playing with a clear mind.

I see no harm in listening to music or eating while playing.

Since I'm a smoker, playing poker without a cigarette just doesn't feel right. On weekends, I’ll treat myself to a few beers while playing, but always in moderation — I make sure it never interferes with serious play.

The most successful poker can only be played with a sober mind. I do not advise anyone to play poker with any substances, especially alcohol. To be honest, I rarely drink alcohol (no more than 1 liter of beer every 2-3 weeks), but I have never been successful when I was under the influence of alcohol.

Without a doubt, listening to music is my favorite thing to do when playing poker. It helps me maintain my concentration and calm, particularly when the game becomes heated. I enjoy house and trance music, which has a decent rhythm that helps me focus but isnt overly distracting. Its a great way to focus on the game and tune out any distractions or outside noises.

When it comes to food, I sometimes snack, but I make an effort to eat healthy so that I m not always grabbing for it or creating a mess. A few chips or some fruit are often sufficient to keep me going during a session. Eating helps me relax the tension between my hands and prevents me from becoming overly worried or stressed throughout extended games.

I prefer to keep a clear mind, so I dont really smoke or drink when I play. Poker is all about making wise choices and its difficult for me to focus if Im not in the right frame of mind. But overall a good vibe, some music and the occasional snack make the whole experience much more enjoyable.

I haven't had a single gram of alcohol in two months but I haven't gained anything either🤣🤣🤪. For me, a few beers help me disconnect from the problems that some of us face daily.
I think you can opt for any of the points listed above if it helps you focus better on the game. Good luck!

Sometimes I drink 1-2 beers or other drinks, I also listen to music, but I mostly focus on the game.
