Slow Rolling, Yes! Definition--
A slow roll occurs at showdown when a player with an extremely strong hand, often the nuts, faces river bet and then delays calling or turning over his cards. This is usually done to give an opponent false hope that he holds the winning hand. Slow rolling is a serious breach of poker etiquette.
Another Definition--slow roll when holding the nuts, a player fails to raise an opposing player so that player loses fewer chips and remains in the game usually an accomplice trying to dupe the other players at the table. also referred to as "collusion"
Slow Playing, No! We all have a time bank so that we have a set time to think about our next action, Call, Fold, or Raise, when playing on-line.
In a live game it can be anything from 5 mins to ???? it is usually down to the players in the hand to decide what is a fair amount of time, but any player at the table is allowed to call the "Clock" on another player because the blinds are constantly going up and that effects their chip-stack.
Only the Dealer at the table is not allowed to influence the game in any way and is not allowed to call the Clock, He must call the floor manager to the table to have him call the clock.
In all the years of playing Poker I have never had the clock called on me, and I have only had to do it once on another player who was taking too long to make up his mind when I was holding a Full-House and raised his river bet, and the other players were getting a little impatient. He had his hand folded by the Floor Manager.
