Donk is a player who makes bets all the time playing aggressively with a larger hand-ranges than LAG , playing way too many trash hands .and when they hit their magic hand vs yours , you get absolutely insane calling them many names besides donk

But many times , really , we accuse sb as a donk , because we lost by a hand we didn't expect him to have , althought we are wrong and the truth is he has played smartly a very nice hand ( a hand which is unusual to us or we don't know well the hands ranges and positions to justify it , or simply we cannot accept our defeat , hehe )

Good question.

I've only been playing Texas Holdem a few years but early on, I'd see this term. Same with 'Degen'.

I've seen it used negatively - 'You DONK'

And I've seen it used as to self accountability neutral 'I donked out of the tourney early'

So, it seems to have a wide range of use. I've never really used it - short of writing these comments about it.

Degen however is a strange one, on one hand, it seems it should be negative but I've seen people refer to 'degen' as 'degens like me play at CasinoX often'

As to Donk though, I think it makes sense to say as to one HAND or one DECISION - that it could be a DONK decision.

But to collectively call someone a donk? to limit their potential? and cheat them OF that potential to grow? and to learn? I think is too dark for my tastes.

I'd say a donk is a player that has high confidence? by low competence.

Now that invites - what is the anti-thesis of that? Because I have high competence but low confidence ! heh

I think by definition a don't would be:
Any player who by luck, skill, Implied odds, or time travel gets the best of any player who believes themselves or thier hand to be superior and thought they should have the hand?
Addition stiplulations include
Superior player must to a degree be ****y or arrogant, a bad loser or on tilt to the point of belittling, demeaning or verbally abusing the player who won the hand.
The player put the money in the pot just like you did. It's his money chips, whatever it doesn't matter how you got here show some class say nice hand and move on. When's the last time you saw an Ivey, Brunson, or Daniel call someone a donkey and belittle thier play? You were taught in school Athletics to be good sportsmen what happened since then?
