Hehe. Interesting question))) There is no skilled wife but I am sure that my future wife will respect my free time and will not be against my hobby.

Teach her how to play and you can play together. My wife has knocked me out of multiple tournaments at our local casino. I love watching her raking in the chips.

Fortunately she likes it. I taught her the basics, and now she sometimes plays with me and my mates. She is improving so yes... I'm happy :D

"Sheep are safe And wolves are fed"

The best option is to occasionally gather friends for a bachelor party. As the saying goes: "sheep are safe And wolves are fed" :)

I don't think wife/gf/partners hate poker, they all hate the time that we dont spent with them that poker "steals"... is just about to have the rigt balance between family time and poker time to have the beter of both worlds

If the problem is about time, just play less. If it’s about losing money, then get a new hobby.

You need to change your wife to the one who will play poker herself, together you will lose the entire family budget faster

In a relationship it must have mutual respect. You don' t have to stop playing poker, but u have to talk abou it and find a way to do whatever you like without let her sad.

Probably you'll find something she likes that u don't. So every person have to to what make itself happy, but considering not offend the other part. If you both are able to reach this point... thats the paradise!

Yeah, she hates poker

Yeah, my wife hates poker, but we respect each other's interests and idiosyncrasies. I try to live a balanced life, making sure to take care of the honey-do list in a timely fashion, spending quality time with her, watching TV shows with her that she likes but I don't really care for, etc. I limit my poker time to four to six hours and day, and sometimes play after she goes to bed if I'm not tired.

We're retired which helps, but I'm also president of a radio control flying club which I must also give priority time to. That's how I keep my life balanced and don't fall into the poker abyss.

Lately, she's gotten into the habit of asking me how my poker day went. I like that. It shows she cares about the things I'm interested in especially when I know she's not.

Just remember--happy wife, tolerable life.

If your wife hates something you like maybe reflect on your relationship because husbands and wives should accept each other even if they like different things.

Poker is a passion like any other game or sport. It helps to pass the time and it is a very exciting game. If the wife / girlfriend does not like it, it would be better to distribute the schedules and do things with them but never stop having that space to play a good time haha

As I don't have a wife, I don't have this problem, but most of my poker league friends are married and they've been playing way into the small hours online, since this corona.
I think, they keep the weekdays/weekends, particularly during the daytime for their family and wives, then leaving the slot of 9pm onwards to satisfy their Poker cravings.
I think the give and take works well for them. They've been playing and married years...
