Lately I've been thinking about something that doesn't get talked about as much as technical strategy: the time to close the session.
I'm not just talking about inclination or defeats, but also about victories. Sometimes we keep playing for adrenaline, and what used to be a good session ends in disaster. How and when do they decide when it's time to end the day, in any case, a defeat or a victory?

I usually stop when I feel tired, distracted, or start making emotional decisions. It's better to end a session early than to keep playing while tilted - quality matters more than hours played.

Yes, I understand, although sometimes I don't know impulses or the same greed doesn't let me, I want to continue doubling what I already have. These days they lowered almost half of what I had. I had pocket aces. I shut up, really bad because I had been saying for a while that it was the last one and I got confident with a pair of aces and they tied me with the queens.

In poker, you should stop when you reach a predetermined loss limit, win limit, or time limit. These rules help you maintain control over your emotions and bankroll, avoiding losing sessions. You should also quit if you become tired or start making rash decisions.

If you're right, I think I need to mature that part because I'm mostly dominated by impulses and I don't even respect what I've set out to do.

Good morning,
you should stop poker sessions when your concentration wanes, you become emotionally compromised, or you exceed personal loss limits. Key signs include increased errors, emotional or physical fatigue, a decline in your perceived skill level, or when the game becomes less profitable. It's often better to quit when feeling mentally or physically tired, or when a game no longer favors you, even if you are still winning money.

Ok, I understand, I'll take it into account, but maybe it's because I don't have much time to play, I rarely want to stop, when I realize it's because it's late haha

Know when to close a session by setting clear goals and emotional boundaries in advance—so you stop from a place of control, not momentum.

When emotions are affecting your play, it's best to end the session. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose.

Ah, oh ok I understand, thank you very much for all the advice. Seriously, sometimes I don't know why it's so hard for me to log out. Sometimes I do it and a few minutes go by and I come back the same way.

For me, the "stop valve" is my back. I think the optimal time to stop is when it becomes difficult to consistently match my "B" game.

One thing that’s helped me a ton is setting session goals that are not money-related. For example: I’ll play solidly for 90 minutes and focus on not misplaying marginal hands. Once I feel I’ve done that, I wrap it up — winning or losing. Keeps me from overstaying when I’m running hot and getting overconfident, which used to burn me a lot 😅.

Of course, it is only possible for short forms of poker like cash games or sit and gos.

You should re-emphasize what affects you and close the section and study the topic in depth calmly.

Yes, it's true that sometimes with enough time it's difficult to say that's enough. When you're winning, I think that I can't waste the streak and when I'm losing, I think that the time has to come to recover. The mind always betrays me.

That's what affects me the most, you know, honestly, not knowing how to say, enough is over... like I said in the other comment, when I'm winning I think that I can't stop the streak and when I'm losing I feel like I have to recover what I already had.
