I like to play both. If I am playing tourney I will not play any cash game unless I am knocked out of tourney early. If I am there to play cash then I do not play tourney. Tourney and cash are 2 totally different animals.

I prefer tournaments. When I started playing 13 years ago, I enjoyed cash games more. I was single and had a lot more time to play. I started winning pretty consistently, but I also found it pretty boring. I just can't get too excited about doubling or tripling (sometimes) my stack after many hours of play. I like tournament play more for a few reasons.

1) The top payouts are huge. For a cash game session, you double or quadruple your stack on a good night. However, you aren't going to win 100-1000 times your buy-in like you could in a tournament.

2) With some basic poker knowledge and a little luck, you have the potential to score big.

3) The rising blinds and changing stack sizes create a challenging environment where you have to constantly adjust your play.

4) To make money in a cash game, you need to play frequently. With a full time job and family, I don't get to play as often as I'd like. I'd rather go for a big score a few times a year than spend day after day grinding it out.

Always, I prefer MTT tournaments. Mainly, I play about 4-6 hours a day.

Live cash player and online tournament players.

I think that's best for each case, as in live CC readsmatter more and in online tournaments I can play more comfortable a longer time.

I'm not really strong in the tournaments! There is important survival there. Cash games are my favorites.:)

Both

I consider myself a well rounded player in Tourneys and Cash. In my opinion one big difference in tourneys and cash games is the ability to manage your stack in a tourney is huge because if you fall below a certain amount, your tourney life starts becoming scary. and you approach the game very differently... vs. in cash games, if you fall to say 30, 40 bb you can just add on and continue playing without considering shoving ranges. I prefer both types of poker.

I prefer to play tournaments I enjoy knocking players out and working toward making it to the final table. I don’t get the same feel out of playing a cash table.

of tournaments, to be a cash game player must have a very good Br, because to play cash game of 0.01 / 0.02 this is not to make money, but to exchange coins only .. tournament is my forte even .. Who knows someday, I'll play cash game....

for me the two are equal. I like playing at two. it's just a question of money that requires me to play all the time in tournaments.

there is defiantly a lot more variance in MTT poker compared to cash, and the concept of ICM deffently changed the MTT game from the typical GTO of Cash.... I love MTTs, but I know I need to play cash to make up for the amount of losses you get in MTTs before a big win to stay profitable long term.

I am a tournament player, in my opinion, in tournaments, it is best to apply the startegia that each one has forged, well that is so for me.

Although I am a tournament player, the most complete players come from the cash tables because they are experts in both pre-flop and post-flop games (professionals, of course) things that perhaps a tournament player is not so complete, since this same one most of the time is in situations of all-in or fold

I’m definitely a tournament player, but I would like to get better at cash games. I’d like to improve my cash game skills so I’m comfortable sitting down at a cash table when I bust out of tournaments.

I agree tournament poker plays totally different than a cash game. What happens with me a lot is that I'll cash in a tournament and then proceed to lose it on a cash game. Wish I was good at both, but I think tournaments are my strong suit.

I enjoy tournaments and do ok I guess, still have tons to work on, but much better than I was a few years ago.

As for cash games I am happy to play them live, but to the point of the OP its a different game and I have not bothered with it online much as I usually deplete my BR relatively quickly..
