If you feel that you are loosing control , you must stop playing. The game is interesting and you can win some money , but you should see the game as a hobby and get out from stress. But it can be a problem too when you can not control yourself.

Yes, I consider myself azart a poker player, I had problems with ludomania in the past, I was a dependent person who did not control actions.
I lost the meaning of life, time and money, but after a while, I changed-I revised my views on my life, I realized what I want from this life. Now I devote part of my life to poker-time, I control my passion and do not go beyond the edge of poker for me does not grow into something more than a part-time job.

I will admit I am a Poker addict and everything related to the game, but I have never got into debt through it.
I have several books on the game including Barry Greensteins "Ace on the river" and will read for an hour in bed before I sleep, some books I will read over and over again for information on a certain aspect of the game but also I read about the history of the game.
One book I read was called "Ghost's at the Table" and it was an insight into how the game started and shaped the wild west, how the different variations of the game became what they are today, The author even played into day 2 of the world series of poker final.
Just so that he could say he did it.
I do believe that everything I do playing poker will never interfere or put my family out on the street. If I do not have the money to play I do not play it is that simple.
I will never use a loan or credit card to play as I feel just as good winning a cash out in any free-roll or even a small buy-in game. You see it is never about the money, it is all about how well I play the game.

I do not consider myself a poker addict, but there are times when I want to win back my lost money and I cannot stop until I win, but more often it happens that I lose even more.:(

2 excellent books you’ve quoted, I’d recommend reading them both. I have an addictive personality and am fascinated by the game of poker so it’s likely that I would be classed as addicted. However, like others I try to not let it overtake both personal and financial priorities.

Hello, as everything has to be handled carefully, something becomes an addiction when it is done excessively, in this case it is a game where you can lose money, time and loved ones if you do not know how to take it to poker, you can avoid all this In principle, have hours to play and if money is invested that is not significant for your money, approximately 5 to 7% of the money you collect. Greetings

The better I play, the less addict I am. Simply a good, PROPER play is not addictive, rather on the contrary.

I've never had a problem with self-control. Poker just brings me pleasure and joy. This is a great game for responsible people, which promotes the development of thought, patience and discipline.

I think it becomes an addition when it either: 1) detrimentally impacts your finances or 2) When you can't go a single day without thinking about poker.

Nah , sometimes I am bored of playing even if I have nothing better to do and some other times I wish I was an ''addict'' in order to make longer session and continue regging in case I bust early some MTTs.

I do not consider myself an addict, although there are times when I studied and I ended up focusing so much that I ended up stressed but it is not something that if I did not have it I could not live

I enjoy using my brain to solve problems and poker is that for me. I hope to have it as a pastime for when I retire so am constantly learning and improving my game. Probably makes me an addict!

I would never be addicted to something with a negative way. Poker has not caused to me such problems. It is fun!

Except for cheating the poker room management, no. I'm a profitable player. Only fraudulently can you win against me. The deceptive way is credit, debt, and suicide. Or at least if you notice that you are being cheated, do not play in this place anymore. And a poker addict is a good thing - if everything is honest. This is a very profitable game for both Pro and semi-Pro players. It's all about the Money, take the money out of the game and your favorite poker game will no longer interest you all. Well, maybe sometimes a family night, once a month, Yes. But not like this. It's money that makes us a drug addict. I can easily give it all up. It's just that nothing bothers me. After all, I can play a lot of tournaments for free, save up and play on paid tournaments. No, I'm not a drug addict. I'm only in poker for money.

At worst I'm a breathing addict - gotta have that sweet oxygen.

Always funny to me that people who go to work every day are not considered addicted to their jobs.

Go to any cardroom and you can find some problem gamblers who gravitate toward poker, but most play with only what they can afford to lose.

Good luck! :D

Perhaps family and friends (who are aware of my poker life) might harbour concerns about addiction but, no, I am not addicted to poker despite having played addiction-levels of poker in the past.

Poker helped me beat addictions, so it could be easy to assume poker is a substitute addiction but that simply isn't the case.
