I deposited $15, I made mistake after mistake losing almost all of it in small buy in mtts.

I found this site when I was around $6 left, and now I am at $90. This was all within the last 5 days.

My secret bankroll builder was cheap satellites you can find that pay out pretty nice tickets for 1st. I would take that ticket, and re enter more of the same sat, slowly building. With such low buy ins, and a nice pay for 1st, the variance can be easily handled.

If i played 20 36 man sngs, and won 1/15 I am still up 25%. Probably basics around here, but just my 2 cents.

I deposited $50 on PS, never got below $30, and built it to $1k in 4 months.

What type of games did you play with such a limited bankroll?
I am in a similar position (around $200) and would be interested to know the best way to increase my bankroll.

Thanks

Al:)

Back in the old days, when US players could play online poker, I did the freeroll to bankroll route on Absolute Poker. I won some small freerolls, grinded on microstakes, won some larger tourneys, and got my balance to about $1000. I cashed some out, transferred some to FT and PS, and have been in the money on all three sites ever since. Only deposit I ever made was $15 on AP so that I could cash out (can't cash out without a deposit).

Way I did it was to grind the micros, survive the grueling play at large freerolls, and then grind some more. Read everything you can about sound bankroll management if you really want to earn from that first deposit.

I am not doing this to earn a living (I have a full-time job and full-time family) so it is much more a hobby for me. But I'm competitive (mostly with myself) and have read lots of books, tried to be active on this forum (the best one there is, really) and signed up at training sites (DragTheBar is sponsored here and they are great: send a PM to dakota-xx for details and a free trial).

Good luck.

Started with a $25 deposit on High5 Poker and played private games only. Managed to get it up to around $100 and then withdrew and deposited on FT and PS. Built it up from there and everytime I had more than around $150 on either site I withdrew it to Neteller. Then deposited on a few other sites to take advantage of promotions and have kept building.

Started in 2009 and took out around $2000 from Neteller to pay for trip to LA and Vegas last November. That left me with a bankroll of around $300 which I have now built back up to around $1800.

Starting with a small bankroll is how it all started for me. I decided to play a few SNGs for fun on Full Tilt about 9 months ago. I had about $50 just sitting in my account from my time in college 4 years prior when I was first introduced to online poker. Not really caring if I went busto, I played a few $10 single table SNGs (I know, not great bankroll management). Luckily I cashed in my first few SNGs and decided to keep playing every now and again during the coming weeks. The next thing I knew I had grown my bankroll up to $300.
I am probably the most competitive person on the planet, so I became obsessed with learning the game by studying and reading any article I could find on SNG strategy. After learning about proper bankroll management, in my free time, I started to grind the low limit SNGs and turn some slow and steady profits.

I tried my hand at the different variety of SNGs offered, and spent about 1000 games early on breaking even at the super turbo SNGs, which you can see in my sharkscope graph (losched16 at Full Tilt). It was not until I found my niche in the 18-45 man SNGs that I started to see some meaningful profits.

Ever since the summer of 2010, I have remained at the $10-$30 SNG limits. I would like to keep my profits in my poker account, but unfortunately, life expenses call for some withdraws, so I have not had the bankroll to confidently play at higher levels yet.

I am a 16 table grinder now and I have grown my $50 into over $20k in profits, $14k of which came from SNGs

I dont think you can deposit 20 dollars and turn it into a bankroll unless your a very very quick learner. You get some positive variance very quickly and get a BR up to 50 but then skill will set it. The only way I think you can really build a BR is by putting in 100 and play very small stakes until your skill goes way up. I deposited about 100 until my BR went up and up!

...have to agree. i came online only recently from a live background and decided to start with zero. after grinding freerolls and micros ,i've built up my br quite comfortably with strict management and stop loss parameters. unfortunately this black friday mess has had me take that br off and start at zero again..but is for the love of it anyway i still prefer live

I heard a coach from Drag the Bar , blackrain79 has built a BR from zero to 10K in one year playing only 1/c and 2/4c . I watched some of his videos at a friend who told me about him bcause i did not belived it:) But it is true. And it aproach on micros made a lot of sense. You do not have to be incredible lucky to dominate the micros. Just a good sense and taking advantage of a tracker. I saw him one our stealing the blinds at a table with nits wthout any effort. Ppl just do not adjust at micros. The loose ones remain loosepassive and fold at cbet and the nits fold every hand if they do not have Aces or kings. Do not bluff the turn or the river unless you are sure the villain will fold and be agressive on the prelfop and on the flop. When you have a maded hand just vaue it. I saw him making over 30-40 bucks in 5-6 45 minutes sessions playing 4 tables 2/5c on POkerstars with the bad beats and all. Actually he complained he made too little because the tables were too tight.

have to agree, just today siting at two 6 handed tables and both had mostly nits with one loose aggressive was .1/.2 games and i musta stole about 3 or four bucks in blinds alone ..never mind the good hands that actually got called or when someone finally cracked cause i kept raising them and shove with ace rag :0

Find something you 'like' so that you'll be willing to put in the time to study. Then stick to that one game until you are having dreams about it at night.
Alot of players used to build up micro bankrolls playing the DoNs on Pokerstars, especially when they first came out with them (it was a game that was easy to multi-table & to have a decent edge over players who weren't making adjustments for that type of format).
I'm 'guessing' (assuming) that many players on this forum have managed to build up decent bankrolls by playing in the Cardschat ($-added) games. They are great value!
As far as Pokerstars goes, I'd think playing the 45plyr. sng's would be a decent game to build a roll on. (might be wrong though, I rarely play on Stars. On FTP the 27plyr. SNG's are a good go, it's easy to maintain a much higher ROI in them than a 9plyr. format. I'm not sure how they are now though with the US players no longer on the tables (might not be enough of them running to be able to have a bunch going at the same time???) )

Pretty sure potheadwoman is speaking in general terms & I'd have to agree with their post 100%.
What about those that haven't deposited and built to insane amounts? (I mean > "what about them?"). What about those who've quickly run it up to insane amounts & then just as insanely went busto (< I would think this is far more common then the latter. Shaun Deeb's & Tom Dwan's aren't the norm.).
