It's different for each person, so I can't make a general statement, but MTT is recommended for beginners.

MTT is best for those just starting out.
But ideally, you should play tournaments where the field is not too big, around 400 players, because very large fields have a lot of variance and some beginners may end up getting frustrated by not getting good results.

I suggest playing the one that fits your playing style best ... I consider both to play quite differently.

Each has its pros and cons. To me, cash games seem to play faster, require more money (potentially can lose or gain more money fast) and requires more control of individual emotions, but one can quit at anytime. MTT games usually require a fixed buy-in, can last a much longer play time, plays slower. you play against many more players and often change tables. Thus, for many of these same reasons, I prefer the pros of Single Table Sit N Go, especially for beginners.

Contrary to what you stated, I actually consider that Cash games present greater risk and require more control of emotions compared to MTTs. Whichever you choose, I suggest you focus on learning and improving your poker skills vise winning or losing. And, learn to accept that there will always be poker variance and that there are two type of "luck", good and bad. My best to you.

See you on the felts, Wally

In my opinion, the right way to start is with freerolls. This will allow the player to save money, understand the basics of the game and acquire primary skills. In addition, freerolls allow you to increase your first bankroll. A good start gives the player more chances for a good continuation :)

Poker is beautiful in its variety and each player can choose what he personally likes.

This choice depends on the individual: what is closer to him and what things he likes.Cash games are good for their convenience and freedom: you can either sit down or leave the table at any time.I generally like both tournaments and cash, but I prefer tournaments because they are WAY more fun than cash.In tournaments, the variety of situations is much wider. You have a lot of variables in your head all the time.

Cash is harder to learn, MTT you will spend a lot of time just push shoving. You do need to add the element of ICM value, and how that changed to the bubble and laddering.

But most of the time you never need to worry about a 3x, 400bb polarizing shove.

For MTT, if you late buy in, I think you would have success just studying push shove charts and paying attention to blind steal tendency.

At MTTs, you can even win a big prize by paying a small entry fee, but it is quite difficult to get to the final table, since quite a lot of people are used to participating in tournaments. So it is not necessarily profitable to play in tournaments, especially for beginners.

MTT variance can be too much. If one can put in 4 - 6 hours of serious play. Then grinding cash games gradually makes more sense.

I'ts better to play MTT, because as some players already know, and they told you with cash games you can lose more money.
Just learn every stage of the tournament, and work at your games, and sometimes change your game.

I think a beginner should choose freerolls. In my opinion, this is the best option for learning the basics of the game, of course with the help of our free CardsChat course as well :)

It depends on what you enjoy playing most and which game format you are more successful in. It might be that this changes with time, so beginner players should stay open minded and be willing to play different games. You can also try SNGs.
