In terms of betting and strategy it's very like Stud. You count your outs and picture what type of hands your opponents are playing, and check their open cards to see what hands they could make. If played properly there's a lot of maths in it and opponent reading. Played at lower limits you get the people that chase even when they have the worst possibly hand and get incredibly lucky - see the above example. But it's nice when you make the wheel A2345.

My advice to newbies only play starting hands with 3 non-duplicate cards 6 and below. Have fun!

This is the best advice for a razz newbie in this thread imo.
Though very tight (6,5,4 and lower) at low stackes you will be profitable.

edit: I find it harder than usual multitabling razz than holdem because of the folded open cards you need to remember all the time so I wouldn't.

Razz always feels easy cos of the amount of idiots and people who don't really know what they are doing!!

Similar to stud in relation information from cards showing and counting the outs and odds.

Less opportunbity to out and out bluff, you also pretty much know if you've got the best hand.

Just playing 3 card 6's is horrible advice.

Read Sklansky on Poker (big razz section) and go from there.

realy i dont like razz, becouse you can even lose with almost nuts and that is not pretty logical game, just bet what you have and thats all ^_^

k in razz you want the lowest possible 5 cards... best hand there is is A2345 you don't want face cards or anything higher then a 10 for that matter but the A counts as 1... you get 3 cards to start... normally you want all 3 of those cards to be in the range of A-9 if not then just let it go... you will eventually have 7 cards (4 showing 3 face down) if you want to try to bluff you need the cards showing to be great cards usually A-5.. once you get the hang of razz it will turn into a very easy game to play and profitable...i hope you do well in your free roll....GL!

Fun game to play but cab be very frustrating when you don't end up with a winning hand after getting a very good low hand in the first three cards. Its fun to play as part of a horse tournament and gives a good break from holdem

Razz is fun, but Razz can be frustrating as ****. Where else can you start a hand with A234 and finish out with AKQ and get beat up on. This is a game I like but I definately am not able to multitask while doing this game. I have to pay to much attention to my opponenets cards.
