MTT's are easier to play than are cash games so I would suggest staying in the low stakes cash in the beginning and then moving up as you see fit. MTT's can be won by anyone on any givin day as luck plays a bigger part on whether you run deep or not. Cash on the other hand is a more complex game due to the deeper stacks. Good luck on the felts!

That is something only you can answer. Play both, Keep records of results and figure out what works best for you. Players prefer different things and vey few players are as good at one as the other.

I think tournies will keep it more interesting but you will experience some tough beats. Losing a few players before the final table or not cashing multiple tables in a row. Cash game winnings take a while to accumulate but if you can 4 table it goes at a good pace

I started with freeroll tournaments. You don't have anything to lose if you play freerolls and when you consider that you are ready to take the risk, then start playing cash games.

Cash:
Benefits - Higher potential earnings (hourly)
Not locked in for a set amount of time (flexibilty)
Always able to start a game no waiting necessary (HU, 6-max, FR)
STT/MTTs -

Benefits - Smaller swings depending on size of field
Easier to learn based on size of field / structure (ie 9-mans being the simplest)
Mass tabling is easier

It is definitely better to start with tournaments. At cash-game tables you need a lot of experience.

I definitely enjoy playing cash games more than tournaments, tournaments require so much persistence but I am getting more into them online lately.

I like to play both, but I find tournaments are more profitable in the long run.

I see cash game poker and tournament poker a lot like, basket ball and football. They are both ball games but completely different, which should you play? Which ever you prefer, there are too many pro's and con's for both. Which ever suits you best go for.

I like both types of games, cash can generate buy-ins for tournaments.

Cash games are career progress. Tournaments takes very long time and more disappointment.

Yes, I agree with previous speakers, you need to decide who you want to be an athlete or just a gambler. And first try your hand at the freerolls and only then go to the cash game;)

Anyone else feel like they answer this a lot? Only you can answer that. Everyone has different preferences and styles. Find what fits you better.
