When i was a kid, and even before i was born, my family played poker (and other card games) every single friday and saturday night, and my uncle was actually a semi professional, i dont remember his name other than uncle freddie, but i used to sit on his lap when i was maybe 4 or 5 and watch him play, and he started teaching me during that time. He unfortunately passed away when i was 8 though, and then when i turned maybe 10 or 11 i started playing 5 card stud with my family and friends, even betting money. I had won so much money from my family during one summer that i was able to purchase a PSONE the day it came out, with a game as well lol. But i never played holdem until i went to poker dealing school back in 2001, after about 2 weeks of poker dealing school i was playing holdem online and at my local indian reservation casino, where i later started dealing at. So yeah, thats pretty much how i started playing =)

I first learned how to play 5 card draw poker as a teenager in the 80's in Los Angeles, CA. with my high school buddies. I never really got hooked into poker though until the Rounders & Chris Moneymaker era.
That's when I first learned about Texas Hold'Em and Doyle Brunson and the like. I quickly got hooked into learning how to play NLHE and my first poker website to learn the basics on was partypoker.
I soon realized that Full Tilt and pokerstars had better layouts that suited my tastes and I am now (5 years later) on full tilt poker almost exclusively.
My first time at the Commerce Casino was exciting and profitable. I did very well for my first real live $100.00 cash game. I ended up walking out with almost $500.00. I even shook hands with Dan Harrington!
The only real reason that I miss Los Angeles is for the Commerce casino, GREAT POKER CASINO i.m.h.o. If you are ever in Los Angeles and love poker, you must visit the Commerce casino. :top:

Play money on FullTilt and then Harrington's books. Discovered that people playing for play money don't play like they do in the books!

when i first started getting into no limit holdem vs strangers (not family and friends that i grew up playing against) i was also dealing poker at the sametime which REALLY helped me learn A LOT about playing the game and picking up on players tendencies and what not. As a dealer u just sit there all day everyday watching players play and stupid enough they tell you their secrets, show you their cards and then a week later i was playing vs them at the other casino across the street =) gotta love it, got 2nd place in my first tourney there, 300 buy in, about 400 players and 2nd paid me around 12k, 10k after i tiped out though, being a dealer i had to take care of my fellow dealers =)

About half a year ago i knew nothing about poker, didn't knew the popularity of it, and that it came massively online.

one day i saw FullTilt icon on my desktop (my sisters boyfriend installed it), i entered there to see the game, entered a play money table and started to bet without knowing what to do, after a short time i figured the game, and started to read tips, watch wsop videos, learn all the other variants of poker.
then i found the freerolls and even won a couple of time 2$, 100FTP but lost it realy quickly.

Well...my husband taught me about 7 years ago. We didn't have chips so we used clothing. Strip poker!
Over the last three years we had a weekly Saturday night home game and all got a chance to improve our skills.

I actually taught Jesus how to play No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker. He then passed it on to his disciples, who disseminated it among the people, and the rest is, as they say, history.

Mase 3:16 "Lo and Jesus said unto them, fold thy seven deuce, for it doth not please me"

i've never considered statistics as a way to learn poker, but I must admit that they too play a big role in my game nowadays.
It's like playing blackjack, but than easier. I love poker.

And I love this funny quote about jebus!

I grew up with all brothers. 6 of them in fact so needless to say they taught me to play. My oldest brother was really good he could read a persons face and their body language. I speak of him in past tense cause he passed away of a heart attack when he was 43. I sure wish he was here to give me a few pointers from time to time. Brush me up on my skills alittle.LOL I could use it here lately, been on the losing end.Mostly getting killed on the river, you know with the chasing river rats lmao. But that's the way it goes I reckon.

I watched my parents play five card draw jacks or better. My family always played lots of card games but I actually honed my poke skills in jail.

Jail is a great place to learn how to play poker lol but really, it is =)~ but still, the best place to learn imo is online, you get to see sooooooo many hands that pretty much no matter what eventually your going to figure it out and start to play better and better, but to learn the real game of poker which is all about reading players and not much at all about the cards your holding, you have to play live and just learn to read people.

Ladbrooks pker and ideas

I learned to play at ladbrooks, when it first launched, all i ever played was free money.. It was great then as everyone got on,and we all knew each other each day,as rooms were set up so we were in same rooms,as there were less rooms.. but better games of 7stud and omah with high limits.. what i want is a free play poker room, where it resembles the real play of poker rooms..

As if there were rooms that gave you reall practice as if you were in a real cash room, the free practice would be more realistic, and help to improve each persons games..

As the free rooms, are nothing like the real play rooms.. also there should be incitives (prizes) for serious no cheating free room players, for the overall best players, who are seen to be doing good no cheating thoe!! as lots do by shareing there chips ect.. but honest players if good could win reall money sponsorships to try out new rooms..

Thankyou all for your time..

Fatima :)

I Learned online mostly

I had a friend from Runescape who lived in Copenhagen, and told me he played in Freeroll SNGs that paid .05c, .03c, and .02c.

I thought this hilarious and asked just where this bigass poker site may be?

He told me about Everestpoker.com and I started playing there limit SNGs. I was further intrigued by the site and went to look at all the site, and found some free MTTs.

One day I played with 538 others and did well. At about 40 I decided to win a "Gold" token, not knowing what that was, but happy about the $9 that came with it.

I won, and then tried to use my token, but was errored out. I had the wrong token. The bronze token tournament accepted $10 entries, so I was perplexed how much my GOLD Token was?

I found it was a token for any $100 Tournament. I wanted my best results, so I waited and learned the site dynamics.

A few months later I found a $100 Tourny with only 30 players registered and knew about 150 would play, for $10k Guarnateed, paying 10.

147 started, and when we went to the final table I had 40% of the chips, but played a little giddy as we got eliminations going, and only took 4th for $1176. Not bad for about 12 hours of play on the 2 Tournaments.
